Tons of differences. Off the top of my head, comparing an 08 to an 11, the current model:
space grey available for sedans one of the blues was added I think? competition package new idrive hd-based nav hd storage for music seat heater buttons moved "all" button for locking the 2 zones chrome headlight switch (huge, I KNOW!) LED taillights multiple package changes (no more tech, alarm included in conv...) auto start/stop I'm sure there's a ton more... |

It would not be worth it to try to upgrade a 2008 to a 2011. You'll end up spending more on parts and labor to MAYBE get things right. The upgrades, though numerous, are incidental.
Better to spend your money on a supercharge kit, exhaust and suspension upgrade. Then you'll have a car actually BETTER than a 2011.

What year did the MDM come standard without Tech or any nav screen?
That's the only options that may get me to upgrade when the lease is up.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

should be a good read there aren't many differences.... just buy one depending on mileage, condition, and price (along with your preferred options)

Are the loops for the storage net at least still in the trunk? The PO of my E36 had lost/never had the net and I was able to buy one inexpensively. That sort of nickel-and-diming isn't so bad as when they make it impossible/really expensive to retrofit. |
