Long term value on an e93 is not going to be great - probably bottoms out in the $15k to 20k range if kept low mileage. You won't get more for it than it's worth today unless we are talking 20 years from now. Time value of money makes that a loser still. The S65 is the most valuable part of your car long term. |

Cancelled my Model 3 (I had a Day 1 In-Store Reservation). Keeping the M3 instead. I have zero regrets.
I have two cousins who bought the Model 3 dual perf. One is being delivered Tuesday. One is going from a 335ix 6MT to the Model 3, so I'm interested to see what he thinks. I'd consider a Model X, as a family hauler, but neither of the sedans cut it for me. The Mercedes parts around the steering wheel wigged me out at first during my Model X test drive.

Convertibles seem to be the lowest priced and most common used for past M3s like E36 and E46. Due to their lower performance, they are not as desirable.

Model 3 is like a Casio G-Shock watch - All the latest bells and whistles, and keeps great time.
M3 is like a Rolex - Mechanical, finicky, needs regular maintenance and even then doesn't keep time perfectly. But I know there's only one I'd pass on to my son. |

Once the novelty of the Tesla wears off you'll be one of these guys that back on the forum either saying you purchased another E9X or you miss your car.

I see a Lot of Tesla in my neighbor hood, imo, they are too quiet and boring, fast...yes!! but thats it, no sound, no road feel, just an IPHONE on wheels....but do what you must, congrats on the Tesla, if you think you can get some money back on your M3 then sell it to someone that will appreciate it and enjoy the drive and Roar of the S65 engine.

Sell the M3 now if it has no personal value to you as it will only drop in market value in the future. Vert M3s do not stop depreciating.

If you do not enjoy the M3 any longer, go ahead and sell it. You can always buy another one in the future for less than what you sell yours for, they will continue to depreciate for quite some time. There will be some other new and shiny car out there when you are done with your Tesla too.

Agreed, no point holding onto the car as an investment. You'll never see it appreciate to a point of anything significant. However, my recommendation would be to hold onto it for 6 more months, then dump it if you still feel the same. Give yourself some time to get over the honeymoon period of the new torque monster.

I had a lot of experience with the Model S P90 a few years ago and while the acceleration up to 70 was amazing, the build quality felt like a 2008 infiniti.. not bad, but not worthy of a $90K price tag. The Model 3 reviews indicate it also struggles with below average build quality. I can see Tesla as a solid daily but if it was my only car I would go crazy! |

E36/E46 vert, even F83 are the most depreciated on the spectrum.

It's easy to tell that the OP is still in the honeymoon phase because all of the reasons to sell the M3 are based on electric cars replacing ICE-powered cars. Unless we run out of oil or there are substantial tax rebates to purchase them, we're not even close, as a country, to be going full electric on car purchases. Electric cars make up, what, 2% of all automotive sales in the US? And that's been static. I doubt that will change in a substantial way in 15-20 yrs.
If the e9x goes up in value it's simply because people are nostalgic for the past. I also think it's funny that the relative value of the e93 is both obvious and not mentioned---that convertible top! You aren't going top down in any new tesla at the moment. To me, that's reason enough to keep the M3. My simple advice is this. Enjoy the new toy for the next few months. I have no doubt you will continue to enjoy the Model 3 during that time, but you might start to realize there are more subjective qualities of the M3 that provide you something not matched by the tesla---and heck, it could be as basic and visceral as hearing a high strung V8 with the top down. |

I have the predecessor to the GShock. I bought it in Hong Kong in 1987. I plan to leave it to my son. I will drive the E90M3 into the ground. I’ll leave my son it’s replacement or it’s replacement’s replacement, whatever that might be.

It's honestly not surprising that a model 3 would make an E93 M3 feel boring. I doubt the heavy M3 feels much better around corners and the model 3 probably feels 20x faster in every day situations. What makes a better complement to a fast, heavy car is a lightweight sports car.

Yup but the low center of gravity makes the car "feel" like it handles better.

i just cant get over the low windshield line... among many other goofy features. I cant help laugh at all the non-car people i see driving around the TM3 in my city, it looks like a womens shoe.
