On looks alone, this PS of the RS5 along side the M3 by CAR magazine make to M3 look very ordinary indeed.
Just imagine that same RS5 with titanium coloured alloys. SWEEEEETTTTTTTTTTT. |

well a well equipped S5 goes for the exact same price as an M3, so I can only imagine what they are going to sell this sucker for.
I think it is very pretty. I am hearing twin turbo V8 as the powerplant. It'll be a M35i of sorts. The front heavy S5 platform made it lose to a 335i in track tests, so Audi better do something to get the balance right. I can't afford to trade for this guy, so I better be happy with my soon to arrive M3!

Wow, the rear bumper on the RS5 makes me dislike the rear bumper on the M more now. Its the only thing I never liked... It seems out of touch with the rest of the car.

There has to be a logical reason for Audi cars to be more expensive in the US and Canada, but over here in Europe the old RS4 and M3 were priced within a few pound of each other.
Is there some addition tax that Audi have to pay over Mercedes and BMW, something to do with not being a US manufacturer because it's the only difference I can see between Audi and the other two, they manufacturer the ML and X5, X6 in the US where as Audi make nothing. Is my thinking right on this and is there some importer tax being levied on to Audi over and above BMW and Mercedes? |

I guess I'm the only one that thinks those massive black corner "vents" on the front of the Audi look horrible. Make those actual vents a la the M3, ditch that spoiler, and make the car actually be able to handle well, and it's a total win for Audi.
I drove an S5, and while I think it is absolutely beautiful inside and out (Deep Ocean Blue over Tuscan Brown Leather please), it handles like crap compared to my M. That rear diffuser looks great though. Guess it's time for me to call Vorsteiner....

i've owned an A5 (selling tomorrow for an E92 M3 )
and trust me it looks great both inside and outside but if you are into more than just looks the M3 whips it driving pleasure sucks so much on the Audi i've owned it for 4 months and i am taking a loss on it but i could not justify paying all that money for a car that gives me zero driving pleasure the 4wd is great but compared to the M3s i test drove world of difference so they can give the RS5 all the power they want it still won't compete with the fun we have in the M3 unless they do a complete re-work on it |

I think in Canada Audi is trying to position themselves as a luxury brand above BMW and Mercedes, with limited success. |

Which one of you folks is going to get one? I know there has to be at least one forum member who will have one of each.
I'm an Audi person, so of course, I dig the RS5, but I dig the M3 Coupe as well. I guess I'm lucky that I don't have the money to buy either. :P |

Damn. I keep coming to this thread with hopes that the latest poster actually has some pics...foiled again. I suppose I'm guilty of coming up with nothing as well.

My buddy has an S5 and as far as price goes (at least here in Canada) the S5 sells for more than the M3 so I can just imagine how much the RS5 would go for. I would expect at least 20 to 25k more than the M3 here in Canada. Especially since the RS4 already is about 15 to 20 above M3 price.
As far as the drive of the S5 compared to my M3... There is NO comparison. Before I bought the M3 I had driven my friends S5 and found it amazing (not quite as amazing as my modified 2001 S4 twin turbo) . This past weekend I redrove the S5 to compare and was not impressed at all. Feels more luxury than sporty and I am personally out with 4 wheel drive on sports cars. I find rear wheel drive to be so much more exciting and challenging to drive. Oh yeah... also drove my friends Aston Marton Vanquish S with paddle shift... Now THAT is one beautiful car and WOW what an amazing exhaust sound ! As far as looks go... I have to agree that the S5 is a damn NICE look but I still do prefer the look of the M3 (side by side) ... yeah yeah call me biased. lol |

price puts the s5 = m3. audi is way over priced. i test drove an rs-4 with 4k miles on it and they were asking 68k. local dealer has a A5 for 60k, an s5 for 68, andi suspect the RS5 will be on par with a M5 as far as price goes.

I was in the market for an Audi S5, but was disgusted with Audi Canada marketing tactics....Overpriced MSRP, 0 (and I mean ZERO) deal on the car, high interest rates at a time like this, delivery dates on the car like you wouldn't believe.
When I stumbled into a BMW dealership and noticed their 0.9% financing on top of their slashing of prices on the M3, the choice is obvious. The A5/S5 is a nice design, the problem is that Audi is saturating it throughout their lineup...just look at the new A4. As far as the price goes for the RS5 (in Canada at least), you might as well get a used Aston Martin DB9 or Bentley Continental GT in the States for that price. |

You realize that the reason why there are no deals and long waits for the S5 is because Audi is making realative few of them and demand is very high. They don't need to do anyhting to sell the car. As for the idea that a DB9 or Conti GT is a substitute for the RS5, you are out of your mind. You may be able to buy a DB9/GT out of the States for close to the same initial purchase price (though with the dollar at 1.2288 and a 6% import duty I don't think you can) but the running costs are astronomical. Call a Bentley or AM dealership and ask them about maintenance. You probably can't get an AMV8 out of the States for less than what the RS5 will go for. |
