I'm still trying to decide between RS-RRs and FZ-201s. First world problems
Edit: One of the posters claims that RS-RRs grease. That's a no go for me, so I'm going to order the FZs. I got a set of Hankook slicks last weekend, and I'm gonna try to get a set of Pirelli slicks at an upcoming race at COTA. Comparing the Hankooks and Federals (and possibly Pirelli) to NT01s should be interesting, if I don't manage to kill myself using the slicks. Last edited by SQ13; 11-15-2017 at 05:43 PM.. |

I am running the Federal 595 RS-RRRRRRRRRR on my e30, they do run pretty wide for their size, and are very grippy. i know that doesn't help in this situation, but i was pleasantly surprised...

Well, they give warning in the sense that you can feel is happening before it happens - if your car control and sense of slip through your body is good enough you can catch them. If you are relying on audible warning, yeah, they don't telegraph sliding that way.

How wide can one go with a stock zcp e92 m3 with an 18x10 wheel? Would a fz201 285/30/18 or 265/35/17 fit better? Are these street legal? |

I think the 285 would be a better fit but might cause rubbing? I should be able to get 285s right now but I think the 265s are on back order from Federal now

I received my FZ-201s yesterday. The 265/35/18s are slightly narrower than 275/35 NT01s. They are the medium compound, 100TW. I have to go through a set of NT01s before I can mount the Federals. Can take pictures comparing width of Federals and Nittos if anyone is interested.

Oh that's good to hear. I huess you just have to pick which one you want. Strange that they call them the same tire. I guess TDs are like that too?

I ran these last few times out at Laguna Seca and Buttonwillow and was pleasantly surprised at how good they were on my E46.

Also, to preface, this venture will net me very little financial gain - possibly a set of tires here and there... I too was just pleasantly surprised by their performance in my ~3k lbs car and was tired (no pun intended) of spending $3k a year on tires. I'm meeting up with my Federal contact at the track this weekend and will have more info on pricing etc.
