Just got back from the dealership today and I was telling my CA who sold me my M a couple of weeks ago how I got a flat on Sun and how in fact they were NOT run flats. Evident to me due to the fact that my rims were practically touching the concrete because my tire was fully deflated. Not only did he insist that they were run flats he called over another well informed idiot I mean CA who said with absolute confidence that they were run flats A-F*CKING-MAZING!!!lol

You will never find a performance tire on a performance car to be run flat. Run flat tires decreeses lateral grip by vibrating when sliding especialy in understeer situations. Its really sad that the people who sale this car can be so uninformed. And I see that a lot of bmw dealers have this problem.

If it is not an M car, then yes. If it it is an M3, see thread title.

If they are run flats, they work for sh!t
2 stories.
I had a 2003 M3 Convertible, sold as having run flats. I got a flat on the 10 west in Los Angeles. I was already moving slow, say 35-45 because, traffic. I moved to the right lane, took the first exit, I think Washington, and a tire place was in sight. I drove there, and in those 5 miles at low speed, the rim was pretty much mangled. So, if those Conti's were actually runflat, they did a shit job of running while flat. Story 2. In my 2008 M3 Sedan, I was heading south through the grapevine, and had a pretty dramatic blowout at speed. I quickly pulled over. I continued in the emergency lane at 15 mph or so, but the tire was clearly not doing the right thing. I stopped and called BMW roadside (2 AM). By 5 AM, they finally found a tow truck to come get me and take me to Valencia BMW. $850 and 24 hours later, I had a new tire mounted and balanced. There was no way that "runflat" tire Michelin Pilot I think was gonna make it very far. Both cars were billed as having run flats by the dealership. |

i mean really... why would i be calling you for a flatbed if i had a spare or run flat tires... |

We do have some compact spare tires, but we do not have the compact spare wheel. As posted above, it can be done, check that thread and you will see posts by folks who have done it.

I hear you guy's not having RF's etc. definitely sucks,,...forget the compact spare tire jazz!!...I just went ahead and bought me a front reconditioned 19" M3 OEM wheel and a tire tote and I set it in the trunk on road trips, it cost me some $$ and takes up some cargo space, but who wants to show up somewhere with Doughnut on there car when out of town visiting !....good luck having AAA finding a tire or anywhere else when you have to have it ordered from a warehouse, beats putting your car on a Rollback on a road trip!

Just read the sidewalll on the tire. It will indicate whether the tire is a run flat. RFT (Run Flat Tire) DSST (Dunlop Self Supporting Technology) ZP (Zero Pressure) etc... Do not let those idiots fool you

OMG THANK YOU, you would not believe how many BMW employees think the m3 rolls run flats. Technicians, service reps, everyone always assumes cuz its after 2008 models, it has run flats. SO MANY TIMES I had to tell them, no it doesn't and what m3 driver wants run flats anyway? and then they ask me "are you sure?" staring at me like I'm some idiot pfffff.
