Enclosed Hood, Roof and Trunk pictures.

The Tape was used by the PDR Guy to count them.

The "dimples" are hard to see by camera but they are dime and nickel sized.

Meeting with the Insurance Adjuster this week.

I know your pain man. On Wednesday 5/25 the wife and I took her newer (4 month old) RX to a viewing in the next town. We knew it was going to start raining by the time it was over and joked about a tornado coming. The viewing was in a town that's been hit by tornados in the past. A F5 tornado in '74 was so bad it brought out President Nixon. It's kind of a running joke about going there in bad weather . Well the jokes on us because we got a class F1 tornado that F-up the RX. The car has 150+ dents & shattered windshield. I hope things work out on your ///M. Maybe you can get some carbon goodies
to replace the hood & trunk since they need replaced?

Wow! I'm really sorry to hear about your experience and your RX! I hope you can get it fixed without too much trouble.

This year's weather - seems like Mother Nature is pissed!

If It was me I would take that M straight IND and get a full carbon treatment. The hood, trunk & that bad ass carbon roof. I would not be surprised if it's cheaper than replacing with the OEM parts. This maybe a blessing in disguise!
I would take the car to them anyway because I don't have a good or even decent body shop in my town.

Wow your car got HAMMERED! I didn't have nearly that much damage. I have an appointment with an adjuster as well, and a repair place picked out already. Fun stuff. Good luck! A few dings definitely stop a guy from worrying about wiping off the next bug that hits the front bumper, so that's a plus

Update: Adjuster and Insurance Company agreed to replace Hood and Roof and will try PDR on Trunk. Current Estimate is $5,000 but Insurance said they expect to pay more when all costs are added.

I called IND and explored Carbon Fiber. While I would love to go this way, it was more expensive and I have College for my Kids right around the corner. Decided to stay happily Married with Children.

My Car goes under the "knife" June 27th as the Local Dealer takes off the damaged roof (no moonroof) and install a solid new one. Does anyone have any experience replacing a roof or advice? I've toured the Munich Factory and recall it's a solid sheet glued into place.

Adjuster came by, I knew of about 10 hits and he found 6 more so a total of 16 hits on the car between hood, roof, left side roof rail and one on the trunk.

Estimate is around $1200 so far, got an appointment at the best-regarded collision center for BMW's in the area for next week. They think they can have it done in one day. The adjuster said that aluminum hoods can be repaired but it's more difficult so the threshold for replacing the hood is lower than on, say, a 335.

^ Very Nice! Glad to hear Richbot that your Car will be back to normal soon!

It started to HAIL tonight (Bad Storm) after I got home from work - damn, if I didn't start having "flashbacks" to the other night when I got HAMMERED!

Update: I have already received the Insurance Check. They told me if the actual costs come in higher to let them know and they will further reimburse. Wow! I was impressed with how quickly they (Insurance) responded.

Car goes into the Body Shop on the 27th!

Fixed! All of the dents were repaired with PDR, including a dent in the roof rail and two dents on the hood that looked like they were hard to get to. Took a day. I only had about a 16 dents on the whole car so it was nowhere near what it would be like if the car was caught in a really bad hailstorm like CBS, but it's good to know what a good PDR place can accomplish, I was amazed.

^ Richbot, glad to hear that you're dentless and back to normal. A good PDR guy is a very good connection.

My 2011 M3 went under the knife yesterday. New Hood, Roof and Trunk. Dealership said 2+ weeks. I'm really hoping all will be well.....

It took over 3 weeks to get the insurance adjuster to come out because they were so back logged. The adjuster gave us a check on the spot for $8000 to "get started" he said. The RX is at a body shop in Cincy that was recommend
by a friend. The repair estimate is up to $12,000 so far. The hood and roof are
not repairable. I'm not getting all worked up about it because we leased
it. Thanks for asking.

First golf ball sized hail in Miami in 30 years or so, just my luck. I'm supposed to pick it up on Tuesday, wish me luck. The last pic I have.

^ Lots of Luck MiamiM3! Do you know if they are using a PDR (Paintless Dent Remover) or if they are just replacing the damaged panels?

I had Golf Ball sized hail too and they are replacing the panels. I was in the car (pulled over) and was shocked the windshield didn't smash. My town had 100 Cars damaged in less than 10 minutes. BMW NA told me they totaled several from my town from the freak storm.

Good Luck and keep in touch, curious how your car turns out since we sound similar...

BMW collision center had to replace the hood, roof panel and repaint the whole car. I worry about the resale value, but what can you do about it? Instead of worrying about it I plan on just enjoying the pleasure of driving such a fantastic car. The kick in the balls is that I let my Wife drive my M3 to her work the day of the hail, so I could clay bar and wax her X3. At my house the hail was dime sized, at the location of my Wife's work it was golf ball sized.

Amazing, sorry to hear of your luck.

Let me know if you learn anything about resale value. I'm going to explore it with my Insurance Company although I wasn't planning on selling, just curious.

^ Thanks Gkap. Glad to hear your car was ok. I don't recall ever seeing Golf Ball Sized Hail around here before.

Update: This Friday my M3 should be done after 3 weeks in the Body Shop. I stopped by Saturday, the new roof and trunk are on but need to be painted. The hood too needs to be painted. Windshield and back window were out. Sad sight!

Told them I needed it all together since Summit Point Track HPDE is in 2 weeks.
Now trying to get the 3M Guy to re-do the front.....

Car will have the work listed on CarFax - nothing I can do about that.
It is what it is.

Only thing left to do is to go enjoy the Vehicle!

Got my car back Friday, paint looks good but there are still two little dings in the passenger rear door and one little ding in the deck lid. BMW collision center said bring it in when I want and they will set me up with a rental car while they fix the dings.
