I read both articles(ZL1 and GT500) and I'm impressed with both manufacturers right now. They've really stepped up the game. The Camaro is way too heavy but you can't argue that Nurburgring time. I'm particularly impressed with the Ford Mustang right now. The Coyote V8 is destined for legendary status. I very briefly considered a Mustang when shopping around for my M3 but I couldn't overlook cheap bits inside and how they f**ked up the back end of the car in the 2010 redesign/refresh. Love the function and look of the sequential tailights and that's it. Great, great engine and chassis other than live rear axle which doesn't seem to hurt the car at all.
If that GT500 can turn, watch out Chevy.

The 2014 Mustang 5.0 is suppose to have near Boss 302 numbers now. Not to mention Ford is going to make a smalle Mustang in 2015 with less weight, its going to get very hot. Dave

I actually took a longgg, hard look at the current GT500 before deciding on an M3. The one thing that weighed in huge favor of the M3 was the interior and the quality of it. exactly what you said - the rear end design on the GT500 and the interior put me off. I mean, when I am paying 55-60+K on a car, I would definitely want to feel it where I am going to be the most - i.e. in and around the driver's seat. SO I want quality interior.... But...... that said......... 650/600 with a 6 speed manual at that price point.....hmmm..... even a small improvement in the interior makes this an absolutely worthy proposition.......unless someone's a brand whore....and admittedly I am, a lill bit but not that much either.......hmmmm......bad thoughts, stay away........ |

I'll be the one to say it - with no DCT, and not even a paddle shifted slush box (like the ZL1 and all Camaros as well as all other Mustangs except Boss 302) - it would not make my list. I am addicted to right-now shifts like crack.

mkoesel... agree... it's the one thing still holding back the american big 3... they've got to get away from (even) slushboxes... and get DCT type transmissions in their lineup... then we'd just have interior left to complain about. Which they've shown they're capable of closing that gap... they just have to focus on it.

I was also impressed by the news today. Would love to see how it actually performs when the thing comes out.
Will this be better than a C63 AMG? Probably, based on how the Mustangs have been performing thus far. Hell, the latest Mustang GT is better than the current gen C63 AMG, right? I hope BMW sees this and really tries hard to out-shine Ford. I agree, Ford's been kicking ass as of late, so I hope the European counterparts recognize and step it up. It's always good to have competition because we're the ultimate winners |

The ZL1 will start at $54,995. The current GT500 starts at $49,605. So I think Ford will probably completely shove it in Chevy's face by keeping it under 55

Hahah. Props to ford. For starting at 50ish with that type of motor and performance, people in here have spent at about as mush as the car is worth to be outdone my a "lesser of a car" because it ain't made overseas. I've run through cars and european cars can be pieces of crap too. Can't wait to see this car.

What's awesome is a bone stock GT500 will do mid 11's@121-123 all day long with the right rear tire. One guy is running 11.1's@122 with a full slick set up + rear suspension adjustments, again on a bone stock engine.
This 650hp car is going to deep in the 10's. I reckon a 10.30-10.50 car easily @130mph +. For 55k (give or take), that's UN HEARD OF good

Wasn't hard....bro....as you have no personal point of view. If you're not going to add a valid "counterpoint," (and no, "get over yourself" does not qualify), what's the point of even responding?

"Get over yourself" wasnt my post. Secondly, anything I posted pertaining to you was just mild sarcasm and nothing personal.
