With the X3 M just two years out, I think it is a safe bet that the engine configuration has been selected some time ago and they are in the process of developing and refining it as we speak. But IMHO, I don't think we are going to get confirmation on the cylinder layout for quite some time.

I think M3 Gran Coupe replacing the sedan was a good idea. The E90 is my favorite M3. At the same time, the next 4-door being the Gran Coupe makes the sedan even more sporty and aggressive, probably making the car lower too.
If i dont get the vert, i'd definitely go for the M3 Gran Coupe |

Well if they are making a X3M and X4M I think we may see AWD in a non X version, since touring will most likely not make it to the states, I would hope the Gran Coupe might have the AWD option. If not I might just buy an X3M and X4M for the wife and myself, 2 young kids and bad winters, sure I can drive in the snow without AWD (I do it now in my C63 with snow tires) BUT when you have the family with you, the added security of AWD and knowing it will be easier to get going on ice or out of a snow filled parking space is a nice comfort.

http://www.bimmerpost.com/future-bmw/ I think this thing will come in very close to the price of the M6 Cab, perhaps just a tiny bit under. |

M3 Touring will be a disaster in the USA. Im fine as long as theres a vert and a 4 door but i also think a touring wont sell at all. Nobody even buys the non-M touring! Waste of R

Pretty soon all 3 series BMW's will be "M3's"!
I think it's time to release the "M3-RS coupe" or something to that effect, for those that still want to buy an actual M3... |

The M3 Gran Coupe was already discussed as the replacement of the M3 Sedan sometime last year in this very forum... I do not see the surprise.
This has obvious all over. Even before BMW admitting that the GT-Series (of one model) was a failure, the idea of a 3-Series Gran Coupe and even more of a M3 Gran Coupe was obvious. The M3 Sedan could be construed as a sales failure - something like a 3-to-1 ratio sales compared with the Coupe/Convertible- however 2-3000 M3 Sedan sales a year are not bad at all. Well, just picture an M3 Gran Coupe for $3000-$5000 more than the current M3 sedan and suddenly this is not that much of a surprise. It is just obviously natural. |

There is no mention in this article about a Z4M, but I think that Scott26 confirmed that it is under development already in a previous post. HOWEVER, current Z4sdrive35is lists somewhere around 80-90K in Canada (I'm not sure about the US), so IF it does come out it would be priced somewhere around 100K? Thats getting close to 6er cabrio territory, so to me it doesn't make much sense to do it.
These models will all sell, and I would rather see an X3M, and X4M (even though we have yet to see an X4) than an X5M and X6M because they are much smaller vehicles and would be more fun to drive as opposed to driving a muscle truck (IMHO, and my brother-in-law has an X5M and its scary fast, but too big for that kind of power). Overall, I do tend to agree that the M division is getting too diluted, BUT if it makes business sense, and the competitors are doing it, they do have to climb on board too. Times are changing fast, so we either need to follow suit or be left in the dust. |

Having the option of one doesn't make the other any "worse". It's not like BMW are forcing you to buy a Touring if you want a coupe If you don't like it, vote with your wallet, like Crimson said All this does is it allows someone to buy a BMW performance car instead of a Audi Avant, Or a C63 station wagon. If there weren't alternatives, people would flock to where there is a suitable fit for their needs. If BMW sell more cars, they have more money, and can continue to keep the ///M cars the benchmark. Audi are selling more and more cars, and Benz are a close contender, so if you want BMW to stay ahead, embrace what they are doing. They haven't disappointed with a single ///M car yet. |

....or we could buy a real RS On a different note, I am sure all these models will sell. Until there is a major backlash, which I doubt there will be ///M will keep slapping a badge on every car that BMW makes, and can you blame the? It doesnt really bother me much since I snagged a S65 M3, and I don't blame BMW for making money. However BMW and ///M seem to over extending themselves and I think it will hurt the brand in the long run. |
