not really; not just about peak hp and tq figures. A bigger displacement motor is gonna feel like a diff car down low. |

Ok thanks, I follow that. I guess I was just expecting a little more. Perhaps it takes experiencing the cars in person to really appreciate them. |

30hp for $30k = $1,000/1hp.
Hmmm...baller status vs financial ass raping. I'll keep my cash and hope the Gintani twin turbo kit is the real deal: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=849889 |

Cool thread. I'm severely underwhelmed by those dyno #'s on the strokers, though. You'd have to be crazy to spend $30K for one of those. Just supercharge it and call it a day.

As an example, my car did 365 RWHP (only 19 HP less than the Dinan stroker) bone stock with 300 miles on the ODO on the EAS dynojet.

Wow. Great data. Thank you for sharing.
EDIT: Timing and spark advance on the Dinan is conservative, as expected. As mentioned earlier, the throttle is not wide-open at redline for the Dinan either. With a more aggressive tune, where would the Dinan be?

well it looks about right.. the cars being tested are stock, except for the stroked bottom end.
Look at the M3 GTS... its a 4.4L stroker and rated at 450hp... just ~30hp away from a stock M3. I bet there is more power to be had with some cams & head work. |

Bolt on an SC and FTW. I'm v v shocked by those numbers though...guess I should be happy with my $1500 bucks spent on Tune and Test Pipes =)

So the reason for the underwhelming performance is the tune? ~$30k engine builds lack proper tune? I don't even..

Neglecting cost, I don't really understand how you come to the conclusion that the Limerock/GTS beats the Dinan stroker.
Yes, the GTS makes marginally more peak horsepower, but the Dinan stroker makes 20-30 WHP more than the GTS everywhere from 3500-6500 RPM. That is a pretty significant advantage, even if the Dinan has some software issues hampering the results. Is the Dinan a good value as tested? Doesn't look like it, but I wouldn't say that the Limerock/GTS beats it from a performance standpoint. I'd be curious to see 60-130 MPH comparisons between the two. |

this thread has troll written all over it... i dont know much about strokers but what I do know is for 30k I would hand half of that to ess and the other half to acm and come out gunning. Gunning for higher than a gain of 12 whp that is.
