Sorry guys here is the pic of the article (my ADSL went AWOL) ... well the second part of it ... showing the times ... the 4.3 sec in gear acceleration was done with an auto so not really considering that time ...
Yes i agree with 888 ... an ///M is an ///M and i have had 3 of them so far ... but its a fcuken nuisance that some dude with his 335i can come next to you, and slowly start pulling away from you at standstill ... (till about 160-170km/h ... that is)

Wrong gear!
Quote:
The ideal gear to pull from 60-120 in the M3 is 3nd gear, not 4th (it will almost pull to 120 in 2nd (so if you are considering 60-116 or so hold on to your seat). 4th on the other hand will be almost bogging the engine. I ran some CarTest simulations to get a time for 60-120 in 3rd and came up with 5.3 seconds. CarTest also predits 60-118 in 2nd at 3.6 seconds. If you have doubts about this amazing software CarTest just search around for various posts on this forum about it. It is quite accurate. Now how this will translate at higher altitudes - sure it will be quite a bit slower but the in gear thing is still not very fair auto or not in the 335i. |

NB: in gear acceleration of the RS4 though is faster than the M3 in this test ... is this the general consensus in other tests done?
