My esteemed challenger used to be quite serious about motorcycling and I obtained a top secret training tape from that era

Dunky, my jap bike kicked your fancy Italian bike.....and my jap car will kick your fancy German car also....unless you use that same excuse....what was....oh, I was too tired.
Put it this way, if I were to drive the M3 and you the IS-F, I would win. If you are in the M3 and I in the IS-F...I will still win, cause I am a winner, and you are a loser! |

It is going to be more fun taking you down! I can't wait!
Why don't you bring your POS Ducati also, and I can beat you on your bike and car in the same day. My 954 vs your 999 AND my IS-F vs your M3!!! You will beat me in a spaghetti eating contest. |

Maybe same track, same driver. The M3 has one big advantage...LSD. But besides that, it is very very close on the track. If the IS-F had an LSD....then I can make all you M3 boys my slaves. So the only question is can the driver (aka Dunky) take advantage of the LSD benefit or not.
Also, we are comparing perfect lap to perfect lap. But Dunky has to contend lots of moving himself and his legs around all the time to push in the clutch and change gears. He is old and slow....and gets tired too fast. After about half a lap, his left leg is going to get tired, he won't be able to handle the steering wheel with one hand and change gear with the other. Probably will start pushing in the clutch only half way, and end up grinding the crap out of those 6 little gears. Now if there are some other boys on this site that know how to drive, they might give me a run for my money...and I encourage you to come out and play....but regarding Dunky and I....he is toast!! |

Interesting thread.
Since I own both cars (6-speed M3), I thought that I would weigh in... As many comparisons that have been done by magazines, I personally feel that they are two totally different cars. The ISF is my daily driver. After a hard day of work when you want a relaxing drive, the ISF gives it to you. The shifts are smooth and the car is quiet (though the shocks could use better rebound). The fit and finish and reliability is amazing. When you want to drive aggressively, simply switch to manual for neck snapping shifts and torque galore. Contrary to what someone said on this thread, there is no confusion in the 8 speed. In normal mode, you dont even know that it is shifting. Nor do the gears hunt. On the track, you are in manual and only use the first 5 gears (or first 4 on a shorter course) The M3 is the weekend car when you want to have fun. The handling in the M3 is hands down better. Overall, it is a better driver's car I think. I have seen M3s beat IS-Fs in HPDEs AND vice versa. It will come down to the skill of the driver. The drag race will be close. Both great cars. Any true unbiased car enthusiast can see the merits (and demerits) in each car. Good luck.
