For some reason I have felt compelled to make a leg of lamb, I have made lamb chops (delicious and the kids loved them), and ground lamb for Gyros (a favorite of everyone who has had it).

marinated it with salt and pepper, olive oil, garlic and rosemary over night. Then put 1/2 cloves of garlic into the meat before putting it on the rotis.

turned out excellent, the potatos under it caught the goodness dripping off.

You would think, right. I was surprised to find out those stupid wraps had more carbs than 3 pieces of bread. Very deceiving Looks good though.

It definitely depends on the size of the wrap and the type of bread. Some slices of bread are 130-150 ish calories a slice. That adds up real fast.

Gotta use that dressing sparingly. I think the vinaigrette's have the lowest caloric content next to light Italian.

Yeah that’s why I said “sort of” but I think everything is relative. There’s some green in it and white meat, so better than what else I could be eating!

Basically. Caesar's the worst for those counting cals / macros. Anchovies, raw eggs, parm, et all.

You can also go down the rabbit hole of the oils salad dressings use. Some are high in estrogen for the fellas.

It blew my mind when NY started showing calories on menus for chains. I’d look at salads and their calories were over 1,000 but a steak and veggies were half that.

Yep! Veggies amount to almost nothing and a decent 6-7oz filet mignon is about 550-ish calories.

70 calories per tablespoon, 30% from fat. Sodium is bad too. And that doesn’t count the Parmigiano Reggiano I added in.

But tastes damn good once in a while.

I like homemade extra virgin olive oil and lemon dressing. My problem is I enjoy oil cured olives and shaved parm on my salads. Being Italian sucks sometimes.

Shaved parm or cheese in general isn't too bad. An ounce is 120-ish calories, and an ounce of cheese is quite a bit when we're talking salads.

Eat half! Baby reds aren't too calorie dense.

Cheese is life. I tend to use only olive + avocado oil. But that's another f'ing rabbit hole to make sure you're actually getting olive or avocado oil. The mob - aka cmyx6's family possibly - have run that racket for awhile.

The problem is when you buy store bought stuff. Salad dressing, popcorn, chips, et all. Most use the cheapest oils to maximize profits and it ends up being terrible for us.

Italian food as a whole is so good though. Full of flavor and taste. And a metric fuck ton of sodium and carbs but when it tastes so good…..
