Would this be the wrong time to comment that while I love the M and don't care what's ahead because THE GT3 RS is my ultimate dream car and the next one on my list. Sorry, I couldn't help myself, off topic I know

M3 GTS Announcement
This past week, BMW M announced the development of the M3 GTS, an M3 Coupe intended to be a street legal club-race car. The announcement included information about modifications to the engine, suspension, brakes and seating. The M3 GTS will not be sold in the United States because modifications do not allow homologation for use on public streets. ....I'm too lazy to read through the whole thread but this is what I saw...what a shame. |

I posted a slew of performance estimated based on modeling/simulation. 0-60 should be about 3.8.

This thread is starting to suck now. It is funny how many misinformed people post as if they actually knew what they were talking about.
Audi higher priced than BMW? Really? Not here in VA/DC. To insinuate that BMW some how sold out in the US in order to gain market share is plain ridiculous? It's called demand and economy of scales. Additionally, last time I checked, Audi is below BMW and Mercedes in terms of prestige and several other factors. Granted, they have nice interiors but so do Infiniti and Lexus. In order for them to compete and try to gain market share from BMW, they must give the consumer more bang for the buck. Acura competes with Infiniti Infiniti competes with Lexus Lexus competes with Mercedes and BMW BMW and Mercedes compete against each other ...and Audi, is somewhere in between but with no real hold on the market. Again, price reflects the economy of scale. - SZ |

does anyone find it is ridiculous everytime this guy has to jump in and put bmw down and praise porsche? i see it in every single thread about bmw performance car.
how exactly do you know it won't perform? you have driven it already? somtimes it seems like the only reason why he drives a z4m is so he has reason to argue that he owns a bmw and thus he is not nut hugging porsche when giving a comment in this forum. really, it is getting cheesy. Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Notice how much shorter the ratios are in all 7 gears.

So it's going to be pretty close to the Porker GT3 in terms of numbers then...
.. but the engine's in the right place, and it doesn't look like a Photoshopped Beetle RSI... I guess I'll take mine in Orange then! |

Even if some M3 GTS parts will be available for the standerd M3, it will not run 7:40 min on the Ring, but best 7:50 min. Yet it may even happen the M3 GTS runs 7:30 on the Ring and so will be faster than a 911 GT3, as fast as a 911 GT3 RS but the the price of a 911 GT3. If the M3 GTS under 7:40 min, it is very good, as it seems it lost only 70 kg.
M3 E46: 1560 kg M3 E92: 1675 kg M3 CSL E46: 1460 kg M3 GTS E92: 1605 kg The next M3 F22 might be a very fast car as it will be under 1600 kg, maybe 1560 kg as the M3 E46 but with > 450 HP and > 500 Nm. |
