I did STR calipers up front for this reason (silver hard anodized); I don't always track my street cars, but when I do, I overdrive the piss out of the car and overheat everything

I signed up for Speed District at Laguna Seca next Tuesday. I've been encouraging Josh to book more tracks, so now that he finally did I want to support his efforts. It looks like there are still less than 20 people signed up, so I'm looking forward to TONS of track time. He said he might just have two run groups.
Anyone else going? |

Nice! I can't wait to hear how you like them. I'm having my RS3s swapped to my fancy new bronze ARC-8s today.

My back hurts. I was in the intermediate group, and it seemed like half the drivers in that run group had never driven on track before. Notice the Porsche driver pointing straight up to point me by..what the hell does that even mean? Also, off-roading action at the end. I'm not sure how to even begin cleaning up the mess.
I also experienced the loudest brake squeal ever. It was pretty embarrassing driving around areas with lots of drivers and pedestrians.. a lot of people looking my way. Last edited by SQ13; 06-08-2017 at 09:02 PM.. |

Did you by chance put new track pads on worn rotors? If the rotors already have a significant lip, new pads will rub on that lip hard and make them squeal like a cut pig.

I recently had an incident that required me to swap rotors and reinstall OE pads, but besides this one case, I always run rotors without a lip and track pads. |

If one 'upgrades' the caliper and still uses drilled rotors, please, please, please inspect for cracks after each session. I've cracked a set w/the stock calipers (might have had something to do with 3-days each at two hard brake use tracks).

i'm interested to hear about your observations with switching to a slotted rotor. i think you'll be pleased with the added bite.

Who does everyone use as their preferred vendor for items such as pads and rotors?
It is difficult for myself to have some items shipped to Canada from the US. I try and support some of the site sponsors such as EAS and Mode Carbon, but there times where I cannot pass up some great pricing from Amazon or Tire Rack. For example, the Stoptech Rotors I ordered are coming from Tire Rack. I searched Vivid Racing, HP Autosport and Zechausen and found they were all priced at $1050 for the front pair. Tire Rack was offering them for $800. I decided to go with that as I was originally looking at the ECS rotors but for an extra $100 for Stoptech I figured I was getting a better product. Care to share your own experiences?

![]() Those are nice rotors. Since my track days are at a minimum anymore, I've actually considered these as my next set of rotors, though I might just stick with stock so I have a balanced "look" with drilled at both ends. Racing up and down the mean streets of Alexandria at 25 - 35mph (on a good day) doesn't really require a lot of extended braking. Threshold braking? Yes. People seem to make some abrupt changes in lanes at the worst times.

NT01 guys, this is my most worn tire I have of four mounted tires. Think it is good for one double day at laguna seca? I'd be super bummed if I started cording half way through the day.

Ok sweet. In my experience, when the curved horizontal tread starts to fade away, the life is limited. I'll probably bring a spare or two.
I don't scrub much at laguna, either. I don't remember laguna having a tire shop...
