I've worn mine down to the point that the tread is gone and all that's left is the two circumferential grooves and tread depth holes. This is after 15 or so track days. How much life is left before cords start to appear?

post a pic. either way, there isn't much life left for those.

Yes good point -- picture worth a thousand words.
Basically trying to decide if I can drive 400 miles round trip between NorCal and MRLS plus a trackday on these tires next month.

no, don't do it. those are about to cord about 1/2" above the top depth mark in the pic. laguna seca isn't particularly hard on tires because there isn't really those higher speed turns that scrub off speed... but those tires are tapped out. maybe good for 1-2 sessions.

Yeah it looks like the top of the tire in the pic is wearing quicker than the rest and will cord soon. You might need some more camber or rotate them more to extend the life. Bring spares and cord these first

The warped thing is that rather than just mount the new NT01s I have in the garage, I was instead hunting for another set of 18x10 track wheels so I could squeeze out another day or two on the current set. Penny wise, pound foolish.

I have about 15 days on the pictured tires -- it seems that I got my $'s worth out of them.

exactly. i have been looking for a set of arc-8's in the 18x10.5 size to match my other track wheels. not many people run them, so it has been frustrating. i don't want to pay full pop, even at the group buy price, but i may have to. having at least two sets of track wheels is ideal to maximize tire longevity since you can take them down to the cords and swap on a new set.

by the way, i don't think you could get much more life out of those tires by flipping them on the wheels. once the curved tread is gone, there isn't much left. you might have been able to get more out of them with more camber, but that is dependent on the track and your driving style. given the number of days you say you got out of them, you could probably get one more. you might be very smooth or just not really being aggressive with the tires.

15 days is astounding to me. I generally get 1/3 of that out of my nittos before they cord.

Drive slower, I'm on day 9 not even past the tread yet.

I'd like to say that I'm the smoothest driver out there but the reality is that there may be more of a Captain Slow issue than I'd care to admit...

Mixture of low weight, even tire wear, tracks with little tire wear (Mid-Ohio, or in Road Atlanta's case I may have actually gained tire), cool weather, and probably a little left of the slip angle graph than I should be (read: slow).

Our local Mid Ohio group, a 996 GT3 was reporting about 50-55 heat sessions on NT01's, and the guy is NOT slow.
