What pressures are people running with the 19" Sessanta on a 255/275 set up pls?
I'm running 33F and 35R on PS2 and Vredestein recommend far higher for their tyres. |

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

My '10 X5's camber is not nearly as bad as it was on my 06'. The new models run less camber, but I know what you mean. I wanted to cross rotate the Vred's but they are directional and asymmetrical so the inside must stay on the inside, same with the outside so no luck there.

You can get an idea of what tyre pressure to run from the feel of the car on turn-in and also by looking at the shoulders of the tyres especially the fronts...you will see a definite line between the worn part of the tyre and the unworn part, if that line is too far down the shoulder of the tyre then the pressure is too low. Some tyres even have markers on the shoulder to give an indication of where the "wear line" should not cross.
BMW decide on the tyre pressures that they recommend to use not Michelin...and the numbers they suggest are a compromised balance between comfort, noise and grip. You can safely run a few psi extra especially in the fronts where even an increase to say 35-36 psi cold will change the way the car feels on turn in. |

They are asymmetrical, but not directional. I'd say the majority of other high performance tires are as well with a stipulated outside/inside.

I've Got No Clue How It Works Either
But people that have them say they work very well in the rain. Possibly it's magic.

The lateral sipes are what move water.....imagine a flat slick that goes over water, the water has no place to go so you get hydroplaning. With road tires they are sipes to move the water out from underneath the tire so you reduce hydroplaning. I have the Vreds, they are very good in the rain.

Running 35-36psi on PS2 at the front must feel like using solid steel for tyres So come on all you Sessanta shod owners. What pressures are you running and what does the car feel like? Anyone that has played around with pressures (on the same tyre) would hopefully have a fair amount to input. |

Anyone with 255/30/20 fronts (specifically with Eibach springs)? I know most tires will rub at full lock with that size, which is why most go 245/30/20, but not sure if anyone can speak from experience. Looking for a set of Vredestein's after I go through my current PS2's.

I have the stock 19s and just picked up the Vreds...255/275 combo...but not mounted yet. My front PS2s still have some life in them. Anyone keep the PS2s on the fronts and put the Vreds on the back for a few thousand miles? Any issues?
Btw...this thread is the sole reason I even heard about these tires. Thanks for the great info. db |
