While one may be able to afford anything, it is still no reason to piss money away. As such, absolute cost isn't so much the issue as is value. Bang for the buck. Now, admittedly, in the high end market, you get diminishing returns, but value still plays a part. With that in mind, I have a bit of a different idea for you: Go look at the Cayenne Turbo. You can get it LOADED and fully customized for your $150k price point. It will blow the doors of most anything in straight line, and is easily tunable for big power since it is a factory turbo. You may not have been looking at an SUV, but the Cayenne is just so good. It will actually match the track time of a 911 4S. It also offers pretty much everything the Panamera does, and gives more utility for about $20k less. Hence the point about value, even in the high end market. I am on my second Cayenne and I love it. Another benefit of having a daily driver vehicle that is raised up a bit, is that it doesn't get destroyed by road grime and/or debris.

completely agree....not interest in some "bragging rights" car...I want something luxurious and nice, but certainly never intend to be a slave to a car payment (e.g., love the bentley continental GT, but no way am I stroking a check for $4K each month for a lease payment). As such, the Panny GTS and the Merc CLS 63 both seemed like great bankg for the buck cars, while still being representative of a 46yo business owner.

Not an issue. My company was smart enough NOT to let the union in, which is the main reason they have remained profitable though the years. Not intending to make anyone mad, but its the truth.

Exactly... 4 grand seems like a bit much. For 4,000 dollars a month I could have a hooker and blow problem and still lease an M3.

Those cars aren't typically financed - they're bought in cash. That said, $4k a month for 5 years will finance about $250k which is the right price for some of these cars.

Yup...My partner drives a RR Ghost....gorgeous car, but "old" for my tastes. Lease is $4K/,month He is single, no wife, no kids, so that's how he chooses to spend his money. I on the other hand, have two great kids and a wonderful wife. So, need to strike a balance. Any of the aforementioned cars I listed are in the $1800/month range on a 36 month lease. Not cheap certainly, but affordable, and worth it to me.

$4k seems about right for a $200,000+ car. Lease rates for the CLS63 is about $2,000/month so for the Bentley to cost twice as much means the lease payments will be twice as much, and it's a Bentley.
