E90: rear vent console oddments tray with liner: $34.23
Replace stupid retractable ashtray which started to rattle in sympathy with my exhaust on cold start and also my daughter won’t stop opening and closing with her foot stop just stop - 68 grams lighter = 0.15lb $/lb = $228 $/rattle = priceless because I divided by zero because now there’s no rattle Last edited by Richbot; 08-13-2018 at 01:54 PM.. |

No issues. I have the VPH1200 and it lasts for at least 2 to 3 weeks. The smaller VPH900 started only lasting 2 weeks so I upgraded to the larger version as I don't drive the car much. I put mine on a charger every once and a while if I'm not using the car. However I don't leave it on a trickle charger indefinitely as I have seen that cause some issues on certain cars. The battery automatically turns off if the voltage gets too low. It keeps enough on reserve to start the car. However, on a car like the e92 you need to keep in mind that the trunk won't open without power. I have wired a remote switch into the cabin in order to work around this. Use the key to get in the driver's door, turn on the battery, start the car and you are good.

I'm mostly in this for the comedy
Also, I got the math wrong, it was $34.23 (free shipping! but I had to order some other junk to get it, sooooo bummer). Huge improvement in $/lb! Quote:
my car is also low on potential parasites...no nav, no EDC, no comfort access

Oh I almost forgot
RB (RacingBrake) rear replacement 350x26mm brake rotors. I'm running these on my car now for the past 2,500 miles or so. RB states 9lb lighter than new stock rotors, my scales back that up roughly (I don't have anything that can do better than a few tenths of a pound repeatably until I get down to the capacity of my kitchen scale) $1150, including a set of RB's rear street pads (price has gone up slightly since my purchase) So, worst case you lose 7lb: $164/lb Best case you lose 9: $128/lb And if you want to really best-case it, you'd probably be buying rear pads for $100-ish, so: $117/lb And it's rotating, unsprung mass. Not a bad deal

You register it. I think there are two tiers, and you are supposed to use the lower tier. The battery is programmed to behave like a regular battery.

I'm waiting for the rotors to wear a bit to do my "review" thread impressions. Which will probably take a good long while. 3,000 miles on them or so right now and the cross hatching is still on them. I may have found my "forever" rear rotors, heh
Visceral: I registered my VPH900 as a 40aH with Carly. But that was 2.5 years ago before registrygate so maybe I didn't register it at all. No issues. Car runs at 14v at idle, I haven't had the voltage up on the dash recently to see whether it jumps up a bit during a charge cycle, but it's definitely not charging all the time you can hear the alternator load it up when idling for a while. Haven't used the tender since the winter. None of my electrical systems have freaked out, though I do believe I may have an IACV about to bite it I've got no codes yet and obviosuly that's a known issue on theseI. I mention it because a failing battery can cause all kinds of weird gremlins to surface and I've had none of that. Still behaves the exact same as new which I would not have been able to say of either of the two OEM batteries which came before this one at this point in their lives, which both started to do intermittent long cranks etc. by now

Karbonius manifold/elbow/airbox lid: ~$3,100 depending on exchange rate and final retail pricing (Group buy was closer to $2,800 all-in)
Weight savings: ~8lb depending on which filter you use, they're hand-laid carbon so some parts will have more resin than others, there are two versions soooo ymmv etc. Price/lb: ~$390 Quote:

OEM pre-LCI center console trim - 6MT non idrive including cigarette lighter and oddments tray - 790 grams
OEM LCI center console trim including OEM sunglasses tray - 6MT no I Drive - 693 grams Total savings: 97 grams Basically All of the savings is in the sunglass tray (no wiring or removable plastic ashtray or lighter) but my trim was getting a little beat and I wanted the bigger rectangular LCI phone hole Cost per lb - lol Last edited by Richbot; 01-25-2020 at 09:55 AM.. |

Stock is aluminum. Unless the CS strut is also aluminum, the struts are likely heavier than stock. MCS struts are a heavier than stock, shocks are about the same (mcs uses an aluminum shock)

^ But you're right, there's more weight to gain than lose in the suspension. Most aftermarket shocks and arms are heavier. I think the hollow Dinan front sway bar is 5lb lighter than stock, though.

^ Which version do you have? The V1 was solid, IIRC. It's the V2 (current, 32mm?) that is hollow.
FWIW I read about the ~5lb estimate, but did not weigh the sways myself. |
