If the MRF midpipe added say 10 additional ft-lb of torque in the mid-range (5000 RPM) compared to Dinan/Akra/etc. while offering good sound as well then I am willing to bet you would have at least 10X more people on your list to buy it! Why would people buy anything else? The only reason why people do NOT choose it over the other exhausts has got to be because of bad sound. There can't be any other explanation. Considering the low cost of good quality resonators which you already pointed out I still don't understand why you continue to hold on to the belief that the customer only wants this midpipe for its power/weight. Try providing the option of resonators to improve the acoustics of this thing and you might be surprised by the interest you get. I would certainly have my name on you list. From what I recall (Malek correct me if I'm wrong as our discussions were over a year ago) the system was designed as a complete unit (MRF Velaforza) with both the X and mufflers together. But when the components were separated after production ceased and enthusiasts started trying the X with other mufflers, it was realized the X worked very well with certain mufflers, in particular the Akra, in significantly reducing rasp/bad sound that you describe. Everybody has different needs and the exhaust isn't for everyone...but if you want the most power coupled with the least rasp. Viola....MRF + Akra. Look I'm older (than most here), own a professional services firm and I don't want "that" impression when I take clients to lunch, etc. Driving slowly and lower RPMs is bassy but not raspy. There is some minor rasp at maybe 1/2 to 2/3 throttle on tip-in but it's gone quickly. In my exhaust vid somewhere in this thread, I drove the car hard. Even in my "normal" acceleration sections I was shifting at 5K RPM. I probably should do a vid when I'm shifting at 3K and it's pretty quiet. No rasp at all. Just my 2c.

Don't get me wrong, I love to mod as much as the next guy, but I already bought an Eisenmann Race at a great price. I'm not going to sell it (prob at a loss) to buy an Akra muffler ($2k used?) AND a $2k X-pipe. That's $4000 - whatever I get for the E.Race. Since these are made to order, why not add 2 extra Vibrant resonators (they cost $90)? That's just IMHO. And no, I wouldn't buy a $2k xpipe just to chop it up and add resonators myself. I agree with Top Gear though, if there was a choice of adding resonators from the "factory", I'd be a lot more interested. Having said all that, someone in Cali needs to run against Malek (same transmission please).

What # are you on the list? Could be why. Looks like the decision was made yesterday EOB pacific time so that could be why you have not been told.

I second that. I hear Benvo was trying to contact Malek to set this up... That video would set this forum on fire lol

Gentlemen,
Resonators are not to control rasp, they are for tonal control. It is the job of the mufflers to control rasp and secondly, drone. In some cases resonators can contribute to added rasp depending on their position within the system. They do their job by changing the frequency of the pressure wave, and some rely on pressure wave cancellation (the latter not applicable in this application). We have tried many of the suggestions that are being made here 3 years ago with this system. It was a part of the R&D process to see what works and what doesn't work. I will reiterate that the Velaforza mid-section is designed to be paired with a rear section that was initially designed to be used with a high performance mid-section. Brands like Eisenmann, BMW MPE, AE and the like are not meant to be used with mid-sections like this. Brands like Akrapovic, the MRF rear section (no longer in production), Dinan, Active Autowerke can use this type of system. However, the two best systems I have experienced with this mid-section for tonal control have been the Akrapovic and the MRF. The stock rear section is the worst of them all in terms of rasp and simply being wild, but I will admit, after 4500 RPM, it is just shy of sounding like a true high revving race car and rather beautiful. Unfortunately we don't live at 4500 RPM's + all the time. Here is a video of the MRF mid + MRF Rear.

Thank you for mentioning that. The Corsa system does a good job of controlling unwanted frequencies as well. It does well in general with catless mid-sections.

Research indicated that. Bad news is the tips aren't really my style. Good news is that the situation is rectifiable easily enough.

gentlemen. this xpipe is admittedly expensive. in my mind the two main objectives of an exhaust system are sound and power. in both those regards the Mrf xpipe performs brilliantly. paired with the akra xpipe, it sounds like a pure f1 car from the outside and more than civilized on the inside of the cabin. as to the power, my other posts show that this system is making inordinate amounts of power. even without reference to any dyno, you can instantly feel the gain in power. and I'm coming from the akra xpipe which was already making substantial gains.
life experience has taught me that you get what you pay for. people who want sound and power will recognize the value of this system. of course there are people who have other objectives. this xpipe is probably not for them. in my experience this xpipe is the single most worthwhile mod I've made to the car. it's transformed my car into an absolute driving thrill. in that regard, this xpipe is well worth it. my two cents.
