I just noticed the Motor Trend long term ISF had it's tires replaced with Vreds in December. Did anyone notice any comments on them in the following issues?
I was browsing through an old issues in a waiting room.

Is there any problem with only replacing the rears with 275 35 19s and leaving the stock fronts?
I ask because I just did this and didn't replace the fronts because they still had tread. I noticed right away that the steering feels looser like I'm driving a boat. It's really not good at all. Could this be why? |

Just give the Vreds some time to break in. They take a few hundred miles before they start sticking.

500 miles in.
Wet - Very noticeably better than PS2s. Dry - same as PS2s Road noise - no different to PS2s Turn in - Noticeably better than PS2s Before 500 miles - noticeably more slip than PS2s

Some have mentioned more ride harshness due to stiffer sidewalls, but my perception is no difference, and as far as I'm concerned they're quite good and amazing for the price. I've seen no downside, and I will also add I see no signs of wear after 2K. Last edited by foosh; 03-25-2010 at 08:16 PM.. |

The OEM Michelin PS2s have a treadwear rating of 220, vs. 280 for the Vreds (higher number means longer expected life). For normal driving, which means, not abusing the tires, many people report 12-15K. Thus, you might squeeze out 18-20K on the Vreds if you are gentle, but that's a stretch.

Groan, sorry about that quad post back there. Computers and the internet, it'll never take off you know, just a passing fad. Bloody technology!
For a short while after they were scrubbed I thought they werent gripping as well but then I realised I was just getting more feedback through the wheel.

I second this. I can definitely put up with the harshness for an extra $800 dollars in my pocket.

Vreds again
If feeling flush, I would go with PS3s (assuming sizes become available). The Vreds are definitely a bargain, though.

Are the outside shoulders taking the tracking OK. The PS2's would just roll on the edges of the tire and get shredded due to the soft sidewall.

anybody have any experience running these on 20s?
looking to see if these would work without rubbing on the following spec: BBS LM-R 20x9.5 +23 front - 255/30/20 20x10+18 rear - 285/30/20 e93 m3 lowered on either dinan (7/8" front, 3/4" rear) or eibach (1" front, 3/5" rear) springs an earlier thread mentioned that 255/30/20 on the front will only work with bridgestones potenzas and nittos. would these vreds be excluded as well? |

Sounds good, I'm picking up a set for my RG63s as well.
