I think it is thinner, so it provides marginally more ground clearance.
As long as you don't go thru dealer automatic car washes, I haven't really hit that plate much.

the intent was more ground clearance for the lowered folks. it is a low part under the car between the wheels, so it scrapes on stuff. mine doesn't, but i thought i would look into it. i figured if it was easy to make with a plasma cutter, i might make a few bucks off of it from the stanced bros.

I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to be moving another set of wheels in the back of my car.. I know i can fit three in the back seats and one in there trunk but doesn't leave much room for other track day stuff that i tote around. If only I could find 2 random TE37's.
You can fit four in the back seat. I also have a rack that fits two. I have transported 6 wheels/tires before plus all my track equipment.

My buddy can make you one for $300. You'll need to supply the oem bases. There are a few for sale for $150 on this forum.
The rack is aluminum, and even with the tires doesn't come close to exceeding the weight limit.
It takes me about a minute to put it on and take it off with my power ratchet and torque star socket. I've used it three times now, very convenient. I mostly got it to be able to put the front seats back to fit the dog.

Something to keep in mind. If i go cage, this would be ideal for storage for the longer trips. Thanks!

Here's the UR one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/172272902449...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I'm thinking of picking that one up to test it out...

Yea, problem is the quality is unknown as well as the dimensions. If it doesn't help someone with clearance, it's a waste of money.
Either way, oem is fine for me. I was just looking into it for another member.

Borders on disbelief how much difference coilovers have made for me on the track.

You'll wonder why you waited so long.
