Early november sounds good. I'll see if I can come up with a plan by sometime next week. The next one will be for charity and my company, Symantec, has agreed to match whatever amount we donate! Very awesome. Any thoughts on charities?

I generally go with St. Jude. Whatever's good, just as long as it's not Susan G. Komen. Not that I'm not sympathetic for breast cancer victims, but just google gender inequities between fund-raising vs. health risk sometime... It's pretty eye opening. Pink shit is everywhere. Ever seen a prostate cancer ribbon?
[gets down from soapbox] Sounds like a real standup company.

I'm probably biased as my girlfriend suffers from Lupus, but if I had a vote it would be The Lupus Foundation of America. www.lupus.org

how about a wounded warrior or disabiled veterans donation? there are several charties for that.
if we do this run in November, November 11 is Veterans Day / Veterans Appreciation Month Figured we did Fragile X a couple runs ago, and then a Cancer patient in need on Skyline Run III. Both were awesome. Though i am biased b/c i'm a disabled veteran in transition. There are a lot worse off than me and special programs/charties that support them and thier families, and build or adapt homes for disabled vets. With having treatments at the Naval Hospital at Bethesda, and seeing all the amputees, blind, disfigured young service members, this stuff is near and dear to me. Especially since fellow collegues have been killed or wounded. Just a thought. I'm happy to support whatever!

I like the vet idea since it'll be around veterans day. And then we'll raise money for Lupus on the meet after. Sound good?

I vote for November 13th. It will coincide with veteran's day, great choice to donate to the wounded vets.

my suggestion. not trying to undersell it, but i know it is biased towards navy, and NSW specifically. they do really really great things. they help families of wounded warriors, give scholarships etc. great foundation. my second vote would be for the wounded warrior foundation. they do great things as well. |

As a Vet myself I love the idea of Wounded Warrior. Every time I go to Bathesda or Walter Reed I am amazed at what some of these guys have gone/are going through and still keep a smile on their faces.
I've got a neighbor that is pretty big in that orginization, I've bounced the idea of doing a track day for some of them off her before and she seemed pretty receptive. On of my best memories is being whipped around Laguna Seca in some guy's GT3, I'll never forget that day. I'm down for the run no matter what the cause is!! Chest |
