When purchased: Nov 2009
Year and model: 2008 E92 Jet Black/Black carbon fiber trim Miles: 7700 Options: Fully Loaded except no DCT and no rear sunshade Transmission: 6MT Price: Hard fought $49k Saved $20k off brand new. I think that was the very best time to buy that car. Less than a year old, under 10k miles, and in the winter when theres no demand for sports cars. I did $400 extra for shipping from texas though. |

if anyone is interested. may not be the cheapest but very fair considering the miles and condition:
http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=487720 beats the dealership, private party sales are the best without paying the 9.75% use tax (hint hint). |

Wow...this seems like an amazing deal. I was thinking about getting into an M3 in the near future and selling my Evo X. I don't nearly use the Evo to its full potential anymore and the only thing keeping me from this switch is the cost. But this deal makes it seem more realistic for me. Then again, this deal seems too good too be true...only 1,800 miles and only 43k? Once i get 5 posts i will be PMing you on more info on what dealer this was at lol

Hey everyone i got a couple questions on pre-owned M3's.
After reading through the deals people can or should get, i would like to know how reasonable this sounds. Im looking into the following. (this isn't a car that i found already, just what im thinking could be had) 2008 E92 M3 6MT Max miles: 20k Max price: 45k From reading this, it seams the above can be had with the right negotiating skills, am i right? Could it be better though? Low $40k would be optimal. Second is it worth it to get CPO if the car, lets say has 20k or less miles? Its still covered under the 5 year factory warranty right (im new to the BMW scene but from reading i believe it has a 5 year warranty, correct?) |

As far as CPO being worth it - thats entirely up to you. A 2008 model with 20K miles would still be under the factory 4 year warranty (not 5 year) but depending on the in service date it may only have a year or so left. If this car is your daily driver or if you plan to keep it for 3+ years I think the CPO is worth it. |

Figure on CPO adding $2k to $3k to the price of a dealer used car and obviously on top of that it bumps you into the dealer price range, not the private party price range. If you find the differential to be $5k, you could roll the dice and "self insure" for repairs for years 5 and 6. You will get the remainder of the existing 4 year or 50k warranty from the "in service" date no matter what.

Also on the free carfax, there isn't much updates on anything...this is what it says "Hmm, we haven't received any information on this car since September 2008. Before you buy, ask the seller for recent service or repair records."

Everyone has e-mailed that guy. Not sure what the deal its, but there is no deal. Tried buying the car and got a military move story with all the trimmings. Since I'm familiar with the military I asked a couple of questions with no response.
