Finally, congrats Ken. Take it easy on the pedals. Busy driving the M3 since you haven't posted yet. We'll still be waiting for you to post some pics with you and the car. A virtual Slideshow if you will.

Hey guys.
Im pretty beat so Im going to crash real soon. But before I do that, I 'll just update what happened today. Will post pics tommorow. I just got back from a 3 hour drive, and the car now has 130 miles! (Left dealer @ 13) The car is absolutely fantastic! I took PCH south today, and hopped onto the 110N so I could step on the gas a bit (cant help it). And step on it I did, what a response! But as soon as I do, 2 cars are right on me. One, a S class passes me and keeps going. The other car keeps hanging around, checking out my car. I thought he wanted to race, but when I look over he is giving me mad thumbs up and rolling down his window, saying something like "congratulations". Wow, 1 minute on the freeway and somebody already recognizes the car. Amazing. Here is what happened this afternoon. I was eating lunch, when I received a call from Scott. Scott: Car is at South bay Ken: Wha? I had no idea the car was coming today. The trucking company told me they would call 24 hours prior to delivery, that never happened. So I just figured the car would come in wed or thursday. No big deal, I was used to waiting, and as you all know, being disappointed was nothing new in this ordeal. So when I was told my car was being PDI'd, I couldnt believe it! Thats when it finally hit me....damn, this is for real this time! I think I finished my lunch like in 5 minutes. And I was ready to take off immediately to South Bay, but I had a 3 hour meeting to attend later that day. You could imagine the temptation to just go, as South Bay BMW is only a few minutes away from where I Work. But after I finished up, I headed right over. Didn't even bother to call up Phillippe!(Sorry bout that!). Im sure all of you have read Phillipe's earlier post, and all of it is 100% correct! I was blown away by the car. Phillipe and SOuth Bay BMW did an EXCELLENT job of cleaning the car up, it was absolutely STUNNING. Props to them for that. And what a stickler to detail he is, guy is like a reporter, he pretty much captured everything! Oh, and its true that its been a while since I drove a manual, but it has all come back after the past few hours! (I'll prove that to you at the next car meet) Some observations on the car. The first thing I noticed when I started the engine was the bulge in the middle of the hood. Damn, it really stands out! FR -> I have no regrets with the Fox Red, its starting to grow on me. I initially had some reservations as some pics show the interior to be really red, but it isnt (Not that red is bad). I am also starting to appreciate the FR/Aluminum combination, as its pretty unique. I-Drive-> I had heard this was difficult to navigate, but it was the opposite for me. Found it much easier to navigate thru the knob over the touch screen of my Lexus. Mats -> No mats! I had new lexus mats, so I threw those in. They look nice. License plate frame -> frame is actually pretty solid, but very plain. I was hoping it would stand out, like a USC license plate frame. The insert with the HAG logo is nice though. This car is an absolute beast. This is my first M car so I don't have a basis of comparison against past models, but its definitely nothing like my old E39 or IS350. All I can say is, it was very painful to cut it off at 5500 RPMs,and I need to hurry up and schedule that 1200 mile service. Thats all for today, I'll post pics tommorow. Regards Ken

Sorry about that Ken. Come by whenever and I'll get them for you, or if you want to wait until the next meet I'll give them to you then. In the meantime please remove the Lexus mats, as they void your warranty |

YAY, the saga seems finally over in the end!!
Yeah, I'm not surprised that you had people on the highway with thumbs up. I tried doing that once when I saw a Porsche Carrera GT and the guy thought I wanted to race him. Naturally I had difficulty keeping up with him, but I somehow hung on and then he decided to go real slow to wait me out. Didn't work, but ended up I exited first, so I rolled down my windows and sky window, and huge thumbs up. Guess the Carrera GT dude didn't appreciate it though. Another time I was at a traffic light and I saw the new S5 pull up behind me, I looked back and gave him a thumbs up. He thought I wanted to race him so he was pretty tight on me, but I was actually very close to getting my apartment and so when he cut to the other lane to go head to head with me, I just gave him thumbs up and he waved back. Anyhow, sorry for my digression. Please do keep us updated with your M3. Ken, planning to make some future mods? i.e. blackline tailights

HAHAHAHHAHAHAAHAH. I wish my dealership at Nasvhille was more like you. I asked them about mats and they said, yeah sure, but you need to pay for it, and I was like nah...it's goodwill like this that keeps people coming back...

Yaaaayyy!!
...one for the Good Guys! Enjoy the cruising, Ken, may it never end. philippek: thanks for being everything that's good about the industry. What a contrast. This whole thread DID get me to drop into the local BMW lot, and check out the new M3 (even a 4 door!), it's certainly better up close and personal. Almost had me driving home in a 2005 off-lease 323i to replace the 318i that belongs to the Mrs., but cooler heads prevailed. She did like that M3 4 door, though... |

I ordered my car from South Bay and it's coming in at the end of the month. Since I'm extremely anxious naturally, I asked my CA for a test drive and he told me you don't do them. I see Ken was able to have one so I have to ask is it true that I can have a test drive at your dealership? I assume also that as far as M3 mats go you'll have them readily available? Thanks |

Ok, here are some pics I took yesterday. I apologize for the quality, as I only had my phone with me (it takes decent, not great pics).
First change in order was the license plate frame. The Husker plate is admittedly pretty decent quality, but somewhat plain jane in appearance. I switched out frames for now, but kept the insert. If you see me driving down the 405 or 110, say hello! Some other pics.

So nice and clean. Nice colors.
Watch out when it rains and the road turns a bit and you give gas.... I did that yesterday. Some dude in a ford gave me the finger and made some noice with his pathectic engine and i hit the gas and was drifting for a few seconds. There are power in these wheels. I almost hit him with my rear but the car nicely took over and put me in the right lane again. New tires are not much worth in rain.
