Right around 1300.

No adjustable tips, just spec if you have a 90 or 92.

I wonder what this will sound like with a forward xpipe (ESS, Gintani, or Bimmerworld)?

I would call Scott at Stromung and he can let you know.

If he accepts your order today and says he’ll start building it tomorrow you’re not getting it for ~3 months (regardless of the timeline he gives you).

Unfortunately that’s not just one guy’s experience.

Finally got my exhaust. Scott shipped it over at no cost for me as compensation for the situation… lol 🤨. Anyways, super excited to throw it on except for one thing, mine came with a dent on the muffler, of course. Not only did I recieve mine months after everyone else, but it was shipped damanged. I would definetly say customer service and QC need to improve. The welds on the bent muffler look sloppy and rushed. Hopefully I can hear back from them and see if theres something that can be done about this.

Not in the area where the dent is. There was holes where the exhaust hangers were sticking out but thats it. They actually did a good job packing the exhaust.

that's very disappointing. i'm awaiting my tracking number as i was already charged for the full exhaust. also the pricing seemed to change on the website and my charges adding up are unclear. looking to get clarity the charges as i didn't get an invoice or anything.

i pray that the welds are high quality given the price, and the fact that theres so many other options on the market. quality welds, materials, fitment and receiving it undamaged are tablestakes

The price on the website is irrelevant for this exhaust, it is a different system therefor different pricing. Did you order as a part of the group buy? If not, did you specify/get confirmation that you were getting the AE exhaust and not the Stromung exhaust?

It is laughable that people still think there’s a difference between the groupbuy system and the standard version other than the tips

I can tell you one thing, you won't get the same quality anywhere for less.
Stromung has been around for 20+ years and they are more so a manufacturer than a "tuning brand". They offer OE-level material and fit/finish. Much better than other brands out there pretending to be American when the product is actually bought from China.

Yes, the timeliness of customer service needs improvement but they simply don't have time to sit around and answer every little question people may have on and off the forum.

The dent in the muffler is not a Stromung problem but more so a shipping problem. Which can happen with any brand. Friends of mine have ordered from Gintani before and the tips were crushed FLAT.

Give Scott a break and some time and I'm sure everything will be sorted out.

There is. I have spoke with Scott over the phone and yes there is a difference between the group buy version vs the standard version Stromung offers other than the tips.

If you insist. However I met someone last month at a track day at VIR with an OG AE exhaust running the same xpipe as me and, would you believe it, they sounded exactly the same! Mine was actually a bit louder in fact but the tone was identical. The difference in volume perhaps could be due in part to the larger diameter resonated tips on the stromung version. YMMV

Of course, the tone is the same. That is the Stromung design. The difference with the OE AE is that its quieter. Wasn't this the intent of the group buy from the jump?

I placed my order with Scott in November. The group buy was announced the next week and Scott was producing all of these systems at the exact same time. My delays were simply because he was waiting on exhaust tips after he had to verify which version I ordered (group buy or stromung). The entire exhaust was made already, he just needed to verify my exhaust tip selection before he could finish and ship.
If anything, him saying the group buy is “different” only validates the pricing model and existence of the groupbuy. Do you honestly think that a small production company like this would really have the means to have such subtle, immeasurable differences to seriously have multiple versions outside of the larger diameter exhaust tips that are simply welded onto the same cans and a little tribute plaque tacked on?

I will leave it alone. Either way, the exhaust is epic and I’m sure everyone will be highly satisfied with their purchase. Regardless of what “version” they decided to go with

Well. I'll tell you one for starters, the Stromung cans that were originally used for the AE exhaust were 16" cans, and the PW tribute one is 14". So it is indeed louder. The internal configurations were made to be louder because, in the final revisions by Paul and Richie of AE they requested that some clients mentioned the larger 16" cans were too quiet on a car with a stock x-pipe.

Anyway, in no way am I affiliated with Scott but I have known about them for very long since a friend of mine in the past had it on his E36 Racecar and that tone was unforgettable.

I just received my non gb/non tribute Stromung exhaust. My cans are 14”, just like the gb spec.

He also reached out to me to verify which tips. I didn’t want the groupbuy tips.

So unless he went internal and changed something between the tribute spec and mine and CHSe92 ‘s spec, they are in fact, the same.

Yes because thats the last/latest design Stromung is using now.
Im talking about the ORIGINAL AE exhaust. The one debut back in 2010.
Not the last revision done.

Right. As I understand from this thread, the debate is over whether your gb spec and the one you can get directly from Scott are the same.

And aside from tips and a plaque they seem identical.

What’s different about the tips?
