No worries I know the difference Business must be good with so many small businesses closing the doors? (that have supported larger ones). And new ones sufficing. The good ting is that one needs to always look at it as the glass being 1/2 full and that as Einstein once said

2.Those who will be more likely to post WITHIN a thread like this or be on the look out for this type of thread will be by FAR the younger guys because in general younger folks who can afford an m3 like to make that point known and it makes them feel good to tell people about it. I would probably feel the same way-I am 30 however so I missed by boat on being able to do that!

3. the Lurker's who read the boards and older folks are not going to jump out and post their age as there is some embarrasement factor of the mide-life-crisis.

anyway I am 30 and looking at getting an m3. I guess I have to admit this board makes you feel too old if you are above 30 but the reality is its probably less than 10 percent of m3 drivers are under 30. 80 percent are between 30-40 and 20 percent over 40.

Going on with this thread and seeing 90 percent of the thread be a bunch of teenagers or 20 year olds with daddy's coin volunteer they have an m3-how is this a thread with any point?

53 years old. Physician. Lurker and poster. Some of my previously owned vehicles.

Hopefully have debunked a couple of your myths.

I wonder what the "typical" income is for M3 drivers? I am sure some people are extending themselves more then others but still, there is probably a medium income for M3 owners here..... I will go first. I am in the 80-100k range.

20-40k?
40-60k?
60-80k?
80-100K?
100-125K?
125-150K?
>150k?
I think your brackets might be off a bit. This range might make a big more sense.

0-75k
75-150k
150-300k
300k-600k
600k-up

Only outliers and fools buying an M3 making under $75k annually.

You'd probably be surprised how many people extend themselves beyond their means. Not to go off on a tangent here, but there is a reason why the housing market is in the situation its in now.

But in response to the original question, I am in the finance industry and 29 and bought mine used. Single and have equity in my home so no real cashflow constraints.

I am probably not your typical M3 driver. I am a divorced 51 year old mom of two college aged daughters. I have always loved every type of nice car out there from muscle to exotic. I was bitten by the bug early on in life. My brother who is lucky enough to own a new Ferrari, Lamborghini, 2 Porsche's, and a few others, advised me very strongly to purchase an M3. He could not say enough about them and how it's a great "Everyday" sports car. He was right!

So glad you are enjoying your car, you do have a wise brother that even tho he drives fine Italian sports cars recommends the ///M3 to you. Having raised two children ... you now deserve more then ever to enjoy yourself ... so happy and safe motoring to you

I think you guys might be getting a skewed representation of M3 owners here. While I do see a lot of "kids" driving M3's (me included soon @ 25) I think most M3's are bought by people 30-60. The problem is that most of the people who are on this forum are going to tend to be on the younger side just because that's the kinda people who are more likely to be on social media/ forum online sites. That is ALSO why you guys are seeing a lot of people in the IT field, who tend to be more comfortable meeting people on forums.

You're essentially seeing a generational shift in action. Sites like this one are only going to get bigger and bigger

Nice cars in your collection (guess driven by some of the family members)

I have a question, I noted the gauge cluster you installed in the ashtray cover. What are the gauges giving you as engine feedback and where did you purchase the mod?

Yipes. 16 with an M3. Enjoy in good health but too much car for a 16 year old. Be careful out there.

lol how exactly did you earn a $70k car at 16? You haven't even applied to college yet.

But as for me, I'm 21 and am paying for my 2012 M3 myself

How exactly did you "earn" an M3 at 16? Unless you're an amateur race car driver (which i doubt you are), you should learn to drive properly first.

Not at all ... well done just be very careful out there with this babe. I last a very good friend he was 29 (very experienced driver, organized track events mainly for M3's) he went to see his girlfriend about this time last year, overtook a car on a wet highway (no snow tires) his rear end gave away and he ended up around a tree. He lived for a very short time then passed on due to his injuries. Here is the post ===>From last year

Cheers,

Take care, Rolf-Dieter

More so than anything Rolf, my first car was a 2008 Subaru Tribeca and I learned a ton of things you should and should not do on the road and how quickly danger can arise.

I have seen my friends wreck high end vehicles and it's a shame that they do not learn to drive them first. Taught my father to REALLY drive the car last few days haha, he has been quite aggressive with it after unleashing the beast within.

Truly remarkable vehicle though, always knew I would love it from the moment I started pondering about attaining it. Now that I finally have it, it's exactly what I had imagined it to be. As a matter of fact I never test drove the car prior to purchasing it. Silly but it ended well, ha.

I'll change it up a bit. I'm 27, and just bought a new m3. I run a family restaurant with my brother. People here thought I was crazy for spending that kind of money. But I love this thing. Lol. It makes me happy so y not.

The way I look at it, our love for the car has no monetary value.

Greetings - new member!

I turned 60 a couple of months ago. My "Happy Birthday To Me" present was my 2011 M3 Coupe (Jerez Black). My beautiful wife of almost 25 years said, "go for it - you deserve it".

My 2 boys (22,19) are jealous as hell. You might say, I truly "earned" this gift - in more ways than one. Having a blast!!
