God these cars look good!

The 359s really compliment these cars, its hard to improve upon with really any other wheel.

2 sets of winter tires eh? I have Hakkapeliittas on my Audi and with quattro never felt the need for more. What are the studded set in the background?

One normal day at the shop and vacuum bagged one side fuel tank cover to make some solid carbon pieces.

Haha, no one set does the job, Micheline Alpine. I'm at the tire storage, the ones in the background aren't mine.

I took the time to hardwire my Valentine One radar detector. I tried to install it with a kit that used power from the rear view mirror. It worked but the wiring was way to sensitive to stay connected to the power bracket in the mirror- the leads kept falling out when I closed the clamshell cover to the rear view mirror- not good.
https://amzn.to/4lMVx1B

I grabbed a direct hardwire kit that plugged directly into the fuse box and was pleased. It took me about an hour including tucking the wires.Thefact that it’s directly connected with a fuse feels good.

Here’s a link to the product.

It's an excellent looking wheel but a bit on the heavier side, especially for 19s. I'm running an Apex VS-5RS forged set and they save a significant amount of unsprung mass

Directly from Apex's website:

19x9: 18.8 lbs
19x10: 19.6 lbs

I believe the 359M are 25.5 and 28 lbs

Agreed. To clarify my earlier statement, I meant best looking wheel. I prefer my square 219Ms over my heavier 359s, performance wise.

Every Spring changing from the (smaller) Winters it strikes me how much less nimble the Summers feels. I'm sure one reason also is going from 235 (square) to 255/275. When replacing the 4PS next time I'll probably go back to original 245/265 FWIW. Never leaving the 359s tho...

Bleed the clutch. Lube the pedal components. Take a look at these two threads.

I think if it was the culprit, it would be more audible from inside the vehicle. It sounds like coming from the bell housing.

By those links you posted, very useful actually, I guess the final solution was greasing the pivot pin and the slave piston head.

Better than having to change the entire clutch kit and flywheel (because there's no clutch kit for '08 available anymore, then you need the updated flywheel).

But you do need the drop the gearbox to lube the parts.

Paint correction, ceramic, new PPF (and a lot more)!

I treated my M3 to a whole bunch of services recently, and this weekend the weather was nice so I snapped a few pics. Thought I'd share one that I thought really turned out well.

I've officially owned this car for 8 years this month!

The engine tune continue to impress with clearly stronger pull.
I felt the same way about the gts dct tune. I hated it at first but now I wouldn’t change it. I drove stock dct and it’s not as “fun”.

In addition it behaves differently/less clever in D mode. I probably go back to OE to compare again, hopefully the (Eu) version delivered is the latest (as the original DCT sw wasn't possible to save, like the orginal engine sw).

Helmsman who provided your engine tune? I'm curious how much of your improvement can be attributed to DCT tune versus engine software.

Bought from Alpine Motor Sport ((Alex). Started with flashing the engine a few months ago, easier do separate mods doing one at the time, and did the DCT a couple of weeks ago. Even if only stage 1 (98 octane, original pipes) the engine tune made a quite noticeable difference, more than I expected. The DCT also makes a difference for sure but as reported I'm not sure its for me.

Finally pulled the trigger on a set of ST XTA coilovers and got them installed. DIY was super straightforward (when compared to other BMW chassis I have worked on before). The only trouble I came across was getting the rear camber arm back on the ball joint.

Still might settle a bit but right now the height looks pretty good and fitment is what I am looking for with 15mm/12mm spacers.

Good move.

The trick to do the rear camber arm is to do it before inserting the shock lower bolt.

Officially 2 months into my ownership. Found a decently sorted out e92 @ 112k miles in CA and drove it back to WA. Definitely a drivers car with some good ol' CA patina. PO did TAs, RBs, and other basic maintenance with records in his 4 years and 7k miles of ownership so I gambled on no PPI. Noticed on a strong burning oil smell on the drive home but oil level seemed fine and no visible leaks. Looked like / assumed sloppy oil change and spillage around the fill cap causing the smell. Well...

Had to focus on work for the month after returning home. Drove it here and there and all seemed fine. A few weekends ago I threw it up on the QuickJacks to refresh all fluids and discovered:
- Both drain plugs were stripped.
- Noticeable leak from oil pan gasket. Annoyed PO didn't address it preventatively when RBs were done.
- Valve cover gaskets were leaking bad. Not surprised at the mileage but shame on me for not spending more time inspecting the car initially.
- Motor mounts were also bad. Odd because they were replaced less than 10k miles ago when the RBs were done (at CarBahn).

She's all sorted out now and I've had to defer a few mods I was planning to do but overall still very happy with the purchase.

Very nice. Congratulations on your purchase and for sorting things out. I'm beginning to believe oil from leaking valve covers can very quickly destroy OEM engine mounts. Leaking oil from my valve covers also destroyed my Vibra-Technics mounts. I suppose I better check my new OEM mounts and get my valve covers and gaskets replaced. I hope you enjoy your new E92 M3. There's a good local E9X M3 community up there...CamasM3e93, spammysammich
