So not exactly today but last week I had to get a whole new set of studs for my KW clubsport camber plates. DO NOT use the torque specs for stock BMW strut tops. Spec for KW is 22NM max.

On Saturday before I headed out to Pullman, I finally got to do a bit of father/son wrenching on a car. First time in our lives as I had no interest in rebuilding carbs and shit like that as a kid. Since his triple bypass a couple years ago I’ve been wanting to tick all the boxes for car guy activities with him. Pops helped me pull the coilovers and bash out the old studs, then press the new ones in. Felt damned good to get a project done with him. They get old fast, do as much with them as you can and celebrate with a high five and a shakedown drive.

And will continue to do so... The guppy, beaver toothed, G-series behemoths look quite bloated next to an E9X-M3. And yet BMW still considered the G-series "M" model worthy. Some of the next G84-M3 series may weigh over 4200lbs due all of the EV stuff! The mind boggles. Land yachts here they come...

shoejohn great comparitive shots
...never actually seen E & G M's side-by-side perspective. Even at car meets not typical to see'em parked together.

What a stark contrast!!!

Worse yet, the hideous 'rag top' G...looks like a design afterthought.
Whereas, the e93 totally complements and blends with coupe' design premise.

Beautiful, and both are comparable in size and dynamics. Well said. Yours are "keepers" for sure.

Like so many bmw model intros, I hated the G80 when it came out and have come to actually like how it looks now. But one things for sure — it’s yuuuge. I had to use my E60 quick jack extensions to get it in the air, and it’s actually bigger and heavier than an e60 m5. Crazy.

Beauty is subjective i.e. in the eye of the beholder. Correct, a G80 M3 has a wheelbase that is almost as big as that of 2005 to 2010 E60 M5. Yuuuge is correct.
The BMW G80 M3 has a wheelbase of 112.5 inches, which is 2857 mm
The 2008 BMW M5 has a wheelbase of 113.7 inches. This translates to approximately 2889 mm
The 2008 BMW M3 has a wheelbase of 108.7 inches. This translates to approximately 2761 mm

Looks great. Thanks for taking the time to post the pics. M539 Restorations did an amazing job. Fun Fact: The M5 V10 S85 valve covers are aluminum and supposedly don't leak like the M3 V8 S65 magnesium valve covers.

One of the porters came up to me as I was snapping pics and asked if I wanted the hood popped. I almost squealed.

The new owner is like a GM at this dealership and he drove it all the way from Oakland to Spokane after he took delivery. I’m definitely bringing my brother back here. Road trip just to see a niche car? Yes please.

No. Sreten found a manual transmission car in the US and restored it with the help of Jason Camissa, then had it done in ring taxi livery as a tribute to Sabine. Very moving seeing it in the metal. I’ve been waiting for months for a chance to drive out there.

I know the feeling.
I over-torqued one of the front studs on my ST coilovers during install. I re-used ones from my former E60 M5 shocks. After a couple years, still going strong.
