Won what? an Ugly contest?

The Z4 is a rival of the TT-S not RS.....the TT-S is 3100lbs and to 60 in 4.9seconds...

Are you saying the Z4 is as quick as an m3? (in order to best that)

TT is not an M3 competitor, you need a backseat to qualify for that

Yes, I'm saying the N54 Z4 will be E46 M3 quick, maybe quicker with DCT, the TT-S is nowhere near that. The Z4 30i will be the competitor for that.

Another thing 0-60 times with modern RWD cars are quickly becoming a moot point. AWD drive cars SHOULD have the quicker 0-60.

yeah and they are, launches much easier/consistantly.

TT-S outperforms the Z4 30i and will be competition for the the 35i....TT-S weighs 3,122 lbs.....the Z4 3.0i is 3,307lbs and the Z4 35i is a porky 3,494lbs.....good luck with that extra 372lbs in the 35i!

The Z4 35i is only 12kgs lighter than the 335i, so good lucky with it destroying the TT-S, to me when you look at European mags both the 335i and TT-S acceleration times you find the two almost identically matched with the TT having a marginal advantage which increases dramatically when lap times are compared (exception being the Nurbirgring).

Given the extra (estimated) 80hp and 70ft/lbs with little or no weight increase then it's not only stupid to compare the Z4 35i as it's rival but to think it capable of competing.

No, given those stats the TT-RS will be competing on performance terms with the likes of the M3 and possibly future Z4M.

Personally, I think the car looks awesome. The interior is killer.

Does anyone know the speculative price?

There is so many incredible details on this car how could one not like it. It's most striking feature to me is it's interior, only the R8 looks more special.

I wonder what they have done to the Haldex system if anyone. I'm hoping it a tweaked version of the new Haldex-XWD.

Only my opinion, but the rear spoiler is enough for me not to like it.

Don't really see the weight being an issue as more power will getting to the wheels anyway. Plus, what do you expect a hardtop convertible to weigh?

Keep telling yourself what you want to hear.

The real world is a much different place Now you start with these M3 comparisons and possible Z4M. Yep, possibly in the future the laws of physics will be changing. Audi won't have a Z4M rival as usual. And 350 hp to all 4 wheels, does not cut it in this day and age. This thing was done before it ever got started, as usual with Audi.

Seriously, I don't expect a Z4 to be a hardtop convertible at all.

Hardtop convertibles are almost as old as DFI.

Really? Source? I thought cloth tops being replaced by hardtops was a modern function to allow cabs in more varied climates. I suppose they were invented a while back.

The idea is pretty old:

Yes, the idea is pretty old but it is rather obvious why modern hard top convertibles are going to be the wave of the future. Cloth tops are on their way out.

The Z4 was just introduced, if M does a version I am hoping they make it a hardtop coupe. The weight has nowhere to go but down.

South,

The rear I do like but I'm unsure about the spoiler. There very few cars that can carry off a rear spoiler without it looking 'Fast and Furious', the 911 is one and....and....., well the 911 is the only one.

Sticky,

We will see when the first accelerstion figures are released but I am sure that the Z4 35i is not it's performance rival but do believe the Cayman S is and when you look at the lap times the Cayman is now doing you can see it performance is right up there with the M3.

I agree that a hardtop convertible has its benefits. Anyway I consider a low weight as more important, so as long as I can't have both I prefer cloth. You know I love most BMWs, but I personally wouldn't know how to justify an Z4 over a Boxster (as long as there's no ///M version).

The rumor says that BMW is debating a real coupe version of the Z4 with the S65 to bridge the gap between the current and the new M3 in some years.

I haven't heard anything on a coupe with an S65? If they do, it wouldn't just bridge the gap, but be a real 911 alternative.

Please explain this South, bridge the gap. Are you meaning there will be a longer than normal gap between current M3 stopping production and the next being released?
