I agree. Slonik DCT pans should be all factory installed in BMW's with DCT transmission.

Mine has probably been leaking for the past 4 years and 80k kms. Transmission never through a code, and the leaking doesn't drip anything.
I was told to fix it by a mechanic who told me my car will blow up. I thought to myself that it is not really worth fixing if the car doesn't complain about it, and 80K kms later it still goes on. Mine is leaking for the side, haven't looked at it for the past 2 years lol.

You might consider topping off the fluid at some point.

Until a proven fix of not leaking comes about, I will keep topping off. I like the slonik pan for added cooling and capacity. @slonik Maybe now you can solve the mechatronics cover leak!
My car actually does not leak from the pan but has a very small weep from the mechatronics cover.

slonik I really appreciate the enthusiasm! Fan of the lower pan and a buyer of that at some point, likely the side-cover as well. Keep up the good work.

Have my 2013 (with 30k miles) in dealer right now having 3 simultaneous DCT oil leaks repaired. Side cover, top of tranny, oil cooler supply hose coupling. It's a good thing I went in when I did. I was down about 2.5liters and was wondering why the tranny was not shifting as hard as it used to.....
Extended warranty covering the $2800 bill. BMW figured 14 hours of labor with dropping the tranny and completing the job. Hopefully, this is a one time repair!

Hi Rick. Did you see my post above regarding the Slonik DCT pan? I think that may the best solution. I showed you pictures of it on my phone as well at breakfast a couple weeks ago.

Yes. I remember your posts and pics you showed me at breakfast. Looks like the best way to go but what's funny is everything but my DCT pan was leaking. The original pan is still on the DCT with gasket and was never replaced during this warranty repair. The dealer said it was not source of the leaks. I just went underneath to take a look and the pan looks dry so far....

Just bought this from Vivid Racing. https://www.vividracing.com/wortec-a...151448753.html
I too have seepage in my DCT and plan to change the seals and pan. I still cannot find good DIY instructions on how to replace the side seal. I have seen people reference lower transmission but unsure how to do this activity. Thanks in advanced. |

Hope this thread is still alive. I have a question. So I've been in the market for an e92 now for the past 3 months and I've finally found one, for a great price. Most importantly, it's a one owner car with all maintenance records in hand. I've seen the car in person, runs and looks great, but after getting a PPI done on the vehicle, there was leakage found on both the lower and side pan of the DCT transmission. It is the only issue that the shop found with the vehicle, other than some upcoming maintenance services. After going through this thread regarding DCT leakage, it seems like it is a common issue, but also possibly a concerning and a recurring one. Should I make the purchase or pass on it, if it's that big of a problem and not worth dealing with. Also, this would be the second time that the lower pan was leaking. Last time it was replaced about a year ago, according to the maintenance records.
