Anyone running Chuckwalla with SD-CCA March 19-20?

Just saw this on their Facebook site which included this link:

http://www.sdbmwcca.com/calendar/CVR/cvr-2011.html

Brand new track, so I'm tempted, but I think it's WAY out there.

I'm actually a member at Chuckwalla. It's a great track. I was thinking of heading out there that weekend for the BMWCCA event.

As far as the distance, it's about as far as buttonwillow from Seal Beach.

Thanks. People have said it's about 40 minutes from Palms Springs?
Then I could drop the family off there and just leave in the morning.

Probably more like 40 minutes from Indio.

No, you don't have to be a member at Chuckwalla to attend the BMWCCA event. You'll probably need to be a BMWCCA member though.

I will be out there that weekend. My race car is not finished yet so I will be playing around in the advanced group. Should be a fun weekend!

I think I actually talked to you briefly about your car/brembos, you were parked in the first row closest to the gas pump side right?

^ Yes, yellow brembos.

Did you drive back to SD yesterday? Myself, an instructor in his Carrera and one of my other buddies in his Z3 all drive back the very twisty route through Anza and Romona to avoid the freeways and have some fine. Would have invited you.

I did but I was pretty worn out, stayed through the last session, so went back the boring way. I went over the mountain on friday with paddy.

track is amazing. i love newly built tracks. they are so smooth. buttonwillow looks like iraq after it has been bombed to shit when you compare it to this track.

there are two things that suck about this track:

1) it is so fucking far from ANYTHING. it takes 1 hour to get herefrom the hotel. i just love waking up at 6 in the morning to drive to the track for 1 hour.

2) this track doesnt have any plumbing so this means that it doesnt have any toilets. we had a trailer with 2 stalls and 2 urinals for toilets. 150 guys stink this tiny place up really fast. the small can of fabreeze that was there did not stand a chance.

even with these drawbacks i will come back to this track each time nasa, porsche club or the bmw club will have an event here. i had a very good time overall.
bathroom was intimidating

hopefully they keep their plan and have more facilities built up by next year.

Yes, second the exact +/- you listed above (2 above...).

The other thing that bit me was missing the tiny entrance sign and that silly giant metal tank, supposedly marking the turn off. I missed the turn off 3 f-ing times...
