Beast... super fast c63 vs m3 vs Carrera S vs R8
http://www.mbworld.org/forums/c63-am...0-200km-h.html
C63 is almost the fastest in all range. its faster in 0-160 and 0-200 then a Porsche and R8. i believe the lap time of m3 will be the 1st or 2nd place between those cars |

With DCT the M3 is on par in straight line speed with a stock C63 all the way to VMAX - and not from magazine times but from personal experience on the autobahn a few weeks ago.......there was nothing in it at all in it.
Of course the C63 can be tuned very cheaply and then we are talking a different outcome - if straight line speed is your main priority.

Having driven all of these cars, and taking the printed numbers with a grain of salt, I would say the R8 & M3 would lap a fraction faster than the C63. The C63 has a nice suspension but not quite the same as the others. Straight line the car is a beast! Auto is quick and pulls like a train.
I would have probably bought a C63 when I was shopping and chose the "IS" if it wasn't for the ugly interior and plain Jane exterior. |

was up against a modified r8 last weekend (twin turbo v8 650 bhp) and just had no answer on the straights but did well in the corners, neither one of us great drivers but that r8 is one helluva car, actually enjoyed watching it pass me, gorgeous car! (but then threw the car seats in the back and remembered why i bot the M, duality)

somewhat like this race : (yet again, my car could be a freak because I keep up with heavily modded N54's that "should" trounce on M3's) Heres a video of me vs a fully modded 135: (essentially even from a 50-130) |

I saw your run with the 135i but I'm kinda curious. You say the run is from 50-130MPH but it's clear at the 0:02 mark you guys get on the throttle and at the 0:08 mark you guys brake. Considering all of the V-Box statistics I can't imagine any stock M3 getting anywhere close to a 6 second 60-130 mark.

Yeah i see what your saying with the whole "sport" mode - I have a ML63 and I experience this SAME thing - the lag time is RIDICULOUS (you touch the paddle at 5k and it shifts at 7 LOL). And there really is a drastic difference between sport and comfort, despite many people'es preconcieved notion that its relatively the same.
Me and the 135 did a couple runs that night, and yeah (correction on my part) that video probably stopped at around 110 or so but in others (I have on my computer, have yet to upload) we went up to 130. Coming from a fully-modded 335 Ive RAPED S65 M3's (badly), which is why I was VERY surprised when I was able to hang. Ive really started thinking my car is a factory freak, I have no reason to lie about the C63 encounter (hes my boy, and I know he was in sport etc...) - who knows, but from my experience at least MY m3 dct has been dead even with a stock C63. This makes me want to run another stock m3dct or m3 6MT... |

Unlike the normal sedate ATs, in the C63, every upshifts you can feel this power surge which some people dislike, but I actually thought pretty much replicates the DCT S6 sensation.

Shocking???????? I have no need or desire to make up stories on an internet forum. My M3 DCT and that C63 were even upto V MAX on the autobahn- FACT. I couldnt care less what you think but by writing 'shocking' you seem to be insinuating that i am a liar...........not cool

I'm not accusing you of being a lair, however as you know the internet is full on inconsistency. For instance our stories are completely different. Oh well. My car no longer stock and is now modified, so with that I have entered a totally different argument. I think any stock VS modded argument is completely ridiculous regardless the brand. Also since this isn't So Cal I think the chances of me coming across a SC E9X M3 are rather slim to none.

From my previous po,st placing the car in sport mode then downshifting to the lowest gear possible is the best scenario to launch these cars.

As a caveat my run against the C63 was on the autobahn upto 170mph (VMAX as stated ) from around 80mph or so. The M3 is in its element at these higher speeds so this could have been a factor as well. To assume that your 35mph - 135mph run is definative and to dismiss everyone elses experience is naive - these cars are very close (in a straight line) and different scenarios, cars and drivers will inevitably give different results.

As I was saying, the shifting sensations from my test drive of the C63 gives a sporty feeling like none other ATs. I like it. I'm not refuting what you said about the need to downshift first rather than relying on kickdown function.
