Would the Euro seat bottoms have any affect on U.S. compliance?
I put in a request to my CA to have Euro seat bottoms installed on my soon to be MCB E92. Thanks to Kev, I saw that you only need 4 parts to make the transfer to Euro bottoms complete, and I've listed them below. I would also need a OC3 occupancy sensor for the passenger side, and I've asked the CA to include that in the request.
Is there any reason why this request wouldn't clear U.S. compliance? 2 of the 4 parts are cushioning, and the other 2 are leather, so my logic is that so long as the OC3 is there, it shouldn't be an issue. |

This request won't be approved as BMW hasn't tested these seat bottoms under U.S Crash & Safety standards.

Doubt it. Anything you do with those seat bottoms will have to be aftermarket. BMW won't mess with US regulatory law.

You're correct, EU vehicles have a different OC3 method than US.

Serious question to the OP: when you asked your CA for the different seat bottoms, did they look at you like you had two heads or treat you like you were a wacko? I know that at my dealer, if I had made a request like that they would've probably laughed me out of the store. Not being sarcastic or anything, just curious if other dealers elsewhere are more accommodating.

I've seen pic's of the Euro, but can't really tell a difference.

Let me get this straight... You are swapping out parts designed by some of the top engineers in the world because some guys sponsored by a company told you it's "better??" But when you ask the same guy about tracking, "oh no, I have a kid now" or "I just detailed my car." or "i just got new tires."

Side bolsters on the bottom are higher/and have a little curve in them. Also the portion in front that "slides" out has a stripe going down the middle.
