e93 dome light disassembly to install F1 Autohaus LED kit
The e93 dome light isn't like the e90/92 with a removable lense cover, you have to take it apart. I didnt see anything on the internets so here ya go.
Once you get it down you will need to remove 10 torx bit screws size T8 on the backside. Then take off the black plastic cover, next remove the green board, then remove black trim piece, finally you can pull out the reflector to install the 12 led board from the F1 Autohaus kit. Put it all back together in reverse order.

By the way, a helpful hint to remove the console itself: remove the 2 bolts securing both sun visors (where they 'clip') to allow headliner to come down enough to easily stick your fingers from behind and push the forward console clips to release the console from the roof bracket. The clips are located right in front of each map light, so you know where to direct your paws . Hope this helps. |

To get mine down, I stuck my finger in 1 of the map light holes and gently pulled it down and toward the windshield. That brought it down far enough to see the metal clip on that side and then I used a flathead to push the metal clip in on that side and then did the other, then the whole thing came down.
Also, there are 2 plastic tabs on the right side that need to be depressed to get it out.

Wish I would have seen this yesterday around 4PM cuz I could not find those damn tabs. Anyway, once the headliner was loose, I was able to fit my hand inside and twist the bulbs out and replace them. For the middle one, I just popped the frosted lens off and mounted it...it was a mother to get that lens back on.

I just finished install my V-1 in an E93, the light fixture drops down by placing a finger in the spot light and gently pulling down. Use a flat screwdriver to press in the metallic clips. Then, i pulled down firmly on the right side to pull the unit out past those plastic clips on the side; it came out without any issues.
I saw 2 torx screws holding the mirror in, I used one for the ground. The green with white stripe wire provides power when the engine starts. Simple, quick, and easy. Thanks for all the DIY info. |
