That sounds dead-on per what seems to be the case so far. Thanks for the info. I don't guess there is a painted CF roof in body color option?
I'm guessing the concept wheels or similar will be available later as part of the ZCP package. |

Interesting info. Thanks.
The hp range seems odd. They still do not know exactly how much hp the car will develop, but they are certain it will fall somewhere within an 8 hp range? If it is 422, that in my opinion is at the lower range of acceptability. I know 422 is a lot of power, but this will be a heavy car, whether or not it has a cf roof. Competition is continuing to move power levels higher, while if recent history is any gauge, the new M3 will retain the same power spec for the life of the model. Putting a possible limited production CSL aside, is 422 enough for the life of the standard M3? That is roughly the same power Audi has been making for over a year now in its RS4. The current rumor is 460 for the C63. Granted the Audi and MB motors are larger capacity, but why has M not increased the bore or stroke of the cut-down S62 to achieve a capacity over 4.0 liters? And yes, I do understand that there is more to a car than power. With M, I assume the other parts of the package are done properly. |

+1 The amount off HP is a little disapointing to me. Only the total package can make it up IMO, this means the weight will be the most important issue. Maybe BMW does keep the amount off HP on purpose low, this gives more room for a possible CSL. Therefore I don`t like the general idea of making a CSL. IMO make just one hell off a M3..........................an M3 IMO should not compete with an CSL..........................the one and only M3 should compete against the RS4/RS5, Porsche 911. This means that if 440 HP is possible ( rumours with a possible CSL ), the should put it wright away in the one and only M3 !! |

HP!!!
well because they are not allowed to state exact power out puts extra the guy told me that it will beat the audi but its doen to the M Dept to decide by how much. he said between 414hp - 422ish... he obviously knows but wouldnt say. its well over 100bhp per litre.... which is shit hot...
you look at other bmw models they sum times have less power than rivals but are much quicker.. Why is everybody nutty on power figures its not everything its how that power is put down on the tarmac.... IT WILL PISS ALL OVER AN AUDI RS4 and a MERC C63 An E46 gets very close to an RS4 with 80hp less so just wait and see No sunroof option at this time. |

I guess BMW realizes that it would be silly to go to the trouble of making the roof CF just to negate all of the savings with a sunroof. Makes sense to me, but I feel your pain for not having the option for one if that is the case. My worst nightmare is not being able to get the car WITHOUT a sunroof, so I guess I will take the unpainted ugly CF roof and be happy.

E92 335i = 1600kg E92 M3 = ?? With an estimated 114 HP extra on the M3, I can only hope the new M3 is below 1600kg, but I realy doubt that............................ |

why not new 19" wheels???
seems like BMW has always introduced new standard and optional larger wheels specific and unique for the release of each M car...would be strange for them to stray from the norm and use an M5 takeoff...

the black m3 mule wheels do appear to be slightly different than the stock m5 wheels. If you look closely, the double spokes on the black wheel are actually separated whereas the m5's only give that illusion...

I don't want a sunroof. And I want original paint so I will probably just roll around looking like a teenager in a japanese car with the exposed CF. Are they going to leave the fenders bare plastic to show that off too?! |

+1 on that
I agree on this.
To the OP: WHAT IS YOUR SOURCE? There have been and continues to be som many rumors and debate on the car why should be all stop now and believe everything you say. Also, it is not like you have much of a track record we can judge you by (10 posts total). As far as no sunroof available (thanks for the sympathy Randy - I guess applying paint is a lot easier than adding a sunroof to a CF panel!) I'm not sure I buy this for the US market. Based on sunroof being a std. on many BMWs in the US i n the past. As far as hp goes I think anywhere in the 420 range will be under-rated. I've said it a million times but the 335i and M5 are both significantly under rated and the new M3 will probably be as well. It is another question entirely if this much hp can keep the M3 competitive over it's entire life span. If the weight is lower than I expect I think the answer is yes, otherwise with the bump in power coming at Audi, MB and P, I think the answer is no. Luckily BMW has probably thought long and hard about this point. Last but not least, 100 hp/l is not exactly "shit hot" anymore. Honda, Porsche, Audi, BMW, Ferarri, and Toyota have done it NA'd. 110 is what I would call "shit hot". |
