Brake Pad Life
My M has done 16k miles and my idrive is now telling me my front pads need replacing. Just wondered how long others have lasted? Does the idrive message come from sensors or is it based on estimated mileage? I ask because I only had the car serviced at 14k and both pad and disk thickness were checked and reported to be ok...i would have thought that if they were within a few k of being replaced they would have said so?

If you're looking to eventually upgrade the pads instead of getting them from the dealer. Cool Carbon makes a great direct bolt in replacement that will give you some extra braking power

had it checked out by dealer. All is ok, just the mileage countdown on the idrive. Nowhere near needing to be replaced and they have reset the mileage on the idrive also..not quite sure why they didn't do this when it was serviced tho? oh well sorted now
