military inspection help
Hey guys,
A friend of mine is having some issues with getting his car registered over here. The guys at the Kapaun office are telling him the car is too low (it's not or it wouldn't have made it onto the boat to get here in the first place) but they won't measure it either. They're telling him to raise it, come back for the inspection, and then re-lower it. Someone mentioned an inspection place at another base that had an older gentleman that was a bit more...understanding but for the life of me I can't find that thread. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks guys, Paul |

I find on different sites that the minimum height must be 11cm. But to be sure you can call a service number.

Yes, 11cm for the frame and 8cm for flexibkle body panels i.e. skirts, lips, etc. The car is over this but the douchebags at the Kapaun inspection facility won't even measure it. They just said "It's too low." I know for a fact it's over the 11 and 8cm minimums because it's my old car and if it was lower than that it wouldn't have even been able to get onto the boat to ship it here. Ugh.

I had a couple of troops who's rides were too low last year. They would not pass them here at Kapaun/Vogelweh. I sent them to the Baumholder inspection station (30 min drive approx) (50 kilometers approx), old man there passed them. Don't know if that old man still works there and also, you may want to call and find out operation hours as their station is not open as often as the one here on Kapaun/Vogelweh.

They won't measure it because they love to give drivers a hard time. This type of nonsense happens all the time over here. It is amazing how people behave when they are given an ounce of authority.

FIle a complaint. Every person has someone above him. As easy as this.
If you comply with the rules - you should make that clear.

Yeah, the crap he had to go through to get registered was unbelievble. He ended up having to take the NCOIC of the inspection section down with him and they found out they were using a block of wood, that was too tall, to inspect cars. AA screaming match ensued and the car was passed.
Man, you give some people just a little bit of power and they go apeshit. |
