Potential M3 Commercial
All,
You may be interested in the following link describing the filming of a BMW commercial involving an as yet unannounced prototype BMW. BMW also sponsors a professional Americas Cup sailing team, hence the location. The facts... http://bmworacleracing.twoday.net/stories/2062127/ http://bmworacleracing.twoday.net 1. I used to work for the sailing team involved and presently work for one of their competitors. 2. I am not presently in Valencia Spain, otherwise I would have a photo. 3. I cannot confirm the car was an M3 yet, but it is fun to speculate and I am working on confirmation (or denial) from those who were present and involved. If anyone is in or around Valencia Spain, there may be an M3 in your midst. Keep your TV on!!! |

funny.
That's no video shoot. They're shooting FILM. So I'm sure whatever the car is, it's a complete car. The Libra III gyro head is NO cheap unit to rent either. That was bigger than your usual video production trust me. (film industry is what I do for a living. Camera specific as well) We can only hope. Wish I was there. kj |

It seems very 'lifestyle-y" to use the BMW sailing team for a commercial, maybee its for one of these possible crossover vehicles ppl are talking about that BMW said they would make.. ? Basicly a minivan

Well, the jib arm with Libra III gyro head, would have been running alongside a road and filming the car driving parallel to it.
That'd be my guess. They use those arms on camera cars/bikes all the time for car spots. You can rotate the head on all 3 axis too. To get those 'dutched' angle driving shots. Used a similar set up on an Audi spot a few years ago. kj |

Maybe shooting another BMW short film with the M3. I mean it seems like that would be the most "readied" unannounced prototype BMW. Unless it's a new concept car? Bring back the 8 series!
