So my 11-99 membership saved my azz yet again today :)
In the 7 years I have had the membership it has probably paid for itself twice Was cruising 280N @ ~85-90 MPH in the slow lane.....no one around. CHP comes out of nowhere onto freeway rt next to me, matching my speed, door-to-door for about 10 seconds. I slow (nothing abrupt, just take foot off gas til about 70 MPH). CHP gets behind me for about 1/4 mile until next off ramp. He then exits freeway. I look over and give a nod and he returns the gesture.

There are so many fake 11-99 plates these days that it probably won't work much longer

Where on 280N were you when you noticed the CHP? I commute between SF and Palo Alto on the 280 almost every day. I know of at least 5-6 spots in each direction where the CHP can hide out, but even with that knowledge, I still drive close to the speed limit because I've simply seen too many people get pulled over on 280.

It's so lame when you see fake plates they are so easy to spot.

Wow - in Canada they would just say "thanks for your support, you understand then why we have to impound your car"
Glad to hear you were able to avoid a ticket. Sounds like the conditions permitted a little spirited driving. |

You are lucky, I have been nailed twice by CHP with my 11-99 plates...nothing serious but for how little I was speeding, I thought they would let me slide.

Its not and never has been a for sure get-out-of-jail card. You have to show courtesy and respect. I'm sure if I had not slowed once I noticed him and been polite, that he would have reamed me.

Yeah, careful on the 280 during the day - lots of CHP all the time. I do note less CHP pulling people over after dark, maybe because it's not really safe to stop even on the side of the freeway at night on 280 (there are no lights along the fwy).

back in the day, it literally was a "get out of jail free card", but nowadays, they are a dime a dozen, with too many knockoffs...
give it time, there will be another new "it" thing to come along for us californians to milk the system... kidding... sorta... |

I live very close to where 280 and hwy 92 meet and usually see CHP waiting at the on/off ramps to the vista points south of 92. Definitely watch it in that area. N280 between Page Mill and Alpine is another known hangout.

Between 11-99 and Ticket Assassin, there should be no reason a CA driver gets a speeding ticket.
