Order an 09 or wait for the 2010
I posted about ordering a new M3 Coupe a couple of weeks ago to get an idea on how long I would have to wait till I can it. But now Im wondering if I should wait untill the 2010s come out. Ive had this buring desire to order it for sometime now, I went to the dealer all excited on Friday to place my official order. I asked the salesperson a few last minute questions, such as what differences would be on the 2010s and the possibility of new colors. He was more interested in the sale than helping me, get my new dream car. But my question is can anyone help me with this. Will they be releasing new colors....etc Will there be any major body chages that will make it look dated when I recieve it? When are the 2010s going to be going into production?

I was having the same exact dilemma as you last month. My goal was to wait for the 2010 MY. I waited a couple weeks, but I couldn't take it anymore. I lost my patience and ordered a 2009 m3 sedan, and I got an awesome deal on it too.
First off, the 2010 m3 sedan will barely have any changes at all since the '09 version already had a significant update with the tail lights and iDrive, and some other stuff. Most people on this forum would agree that the 2010 will have very small changes, if any at all. Also, if I waited for the 2010 I'd have to wait to place my order some time in September, and I would get my m3 in November....If not a little later. My actual order was processed on May 20th, and my m3 is scheduled to arrive in about 3 weeks. Honestly, I probably didn't make the smartest decision by not waiting for the 2010.....Or maybe I did. What if the dealers don't discount the 2010's as much when ordering first starts? I mean it's gonna be a brand new model, so dealers are gonna be strict in the beginning I would think. A lot of questions went through my mind, but I just went with my gut feeling. What matters most is if you're going to be completely happy with your decision.....And I am. My advice is to wait for the 2010 MY. That would be the smartest move at this time. If you don't have the patience like me, then go with your gut feeling. All the best with your decision! |

Any idea--even a guess at this point--what kind of price bump to expect? The market is pretty bad, though I imagine dignity will almost require some increase...

If there's a price bump, it'll most likely be a $500-1,000 bump.......But I honestly expect the price to remain about the same. |

I signed a killer deal here for a 2010.. Kind of snuck it in last minute and the dealer didn't have the option to say no!

My dealer offered me the same discount on the 2010's as he was on the 2009's. X amount over invoice.
I read somewhere that there will be a price increase of $600 for the 2010's. One change with of this year will be a new voice command package for the nav system (via Technic) among the other accepted changes. |

From another thread, the OP might be interested to know that as well as a MY2010, there will be an LCI (sort of slight face-lift, much like what the sedan went through) for the coupe in about week 10 of 2010.
So, if you want a post-LCI E92, you're in for a long, long wait. |

You might have noticed the large selection of M3's once seen in 08 and early 09 is diminishing. It's no secret that BMW has cut production drastically. My cousin was looking to buy a new M3 sedan in PHX and there was only 1 sedan, 1 vert and 2 coupes in the entire city, that's it! So if you can still get a great deal on an 09, I would jump on it. I just visited a dealer today and the client advisor told me that BMW is not making MY2010 M3s, just slowing down production of 2009 through 2010. Is this for real or is he blowing smoke?

It's funny, I am really into watches, and obviously cars. I love it when I go to a watch store, Tourneau for example and or a BMW delaer and I probably know more about the car/watch than 90% of the sales people and they just tell you and feed you lies. It's almost embarrassing that BMW hires ass hats like that.

I'm thinking about an M3 too
And this same client advisor (today 7/25/09 mind you) was telling me that BMW Financial does not offer any special financing deals for the M cars and that for the '09 M3s the BMW Financial rate is 5.9% and that BMW would never offer any lower APRs because it is an M. Then I told him that on the BMW USA website the BMW Financial current deal on M3s is 2.9%. He went over to his colleagues and they confirmed it with him.
