Strongly recommend https://carbon-microsystem.com/ for the type for doors your describing (able to move window up/down). Manual motion with a latch at top would be light and simple. https://ljrc1.com/item/1218959-upper-window-latch-kit

I ordered a trunk through Carbon Micro and they were great! Excellent communication and incredible craftsmanship and to keep shipping down they sent it directly to airport where I picked it up directly through customs broker.

All the Carbon work I ordered from Latvia (OCT Composites, Carbon Micro, and HGK). Seems like a lot of skilled composite labor in Latvia.
Yeah I've found the same out of Latvia. I'm referencing the carbon microsystems doors actually... Exactly. Was going to go with Alsatek from Germany but cost and fixed window have me leaning the other way. Glad to hear you had a good experience!

Also had no idea about the fixed window rules. I thought if you had Lexan it was OK but maybe I was wrong. Highly likely.. haha.

HOD just started doing this in Norcal. I don't know about the rest of the country.

Yes Alex, MK made the mirrors too! The windows are sealed, but we do have the window sliders (so a square of airflow will come in from the window, and the a "Costco glizzy" sized gust of air comes through the mirrors.

gdamn reidetailing going hard with the carbon! looks absolutely nuts.

since you've picked up quite a bit from them, have you also gotten the eccentric rear axle bushings for roll center correction? if so, any opinions on them? been doing a fair amount of reading in that direction but struggling with finding a writeup on them.

(+1 on costco glizzy)

With NASA the only class allowed to race with lexan windows in is GTS, they are banned in other classes outside factory race cars that come with lexan door windows. They are also banned in HPDE and Time Trials

Gotta give a shout out to Pete at 529 innovations. I managed to destroy the set of XP10s I put up front at Road America yesterday, and have another even at a track that's super hard on pads on Tuesday. No one could get the pads in time to me, but this dude (who luckily happened to be at a track yesterday that was on my way home from RA), grabbed a set of XP20s he had just sitting at his shop, and drove up to meet me as I was driving by.

yeah, he's an audi guy, don't hold it against him, but he sells pads for the AP calipers and is a carbotech distributor.

I have around 20 events scheduled this season and came to the realization that my nt01s probably won’t make it through. Some of my events are bunched up and my fear is missing an event because tires unexpectedly went to threads and replacement lead time leaves me stranded. So I picked up a pair of R888R’s @ 295 for the rears and will use the four 275 nittos on the fronts over the season. This might get me through the rest of the season. I know the 888’s have their detractors. I wanted a dot tire with reasonable wet traction and durability. Doesn’t appear that Nitto makes an nt01 @ 295 30 18 or I would have gone that route.

I’m sure the group has seen this somewhere but it gave me a chuckle yesterday.

I would never want the r888r in the rain, much better options out there unless you got them for a steal

Tell me more. What did you experience?

To clarify, I didn’t buy it as a wet traction track tire but an R compound tire that won’t leave me stranded on the side of the road in a heavy shower.

Don't think that exists. Some are better in the damp or slightly wet conditions than others but they're all terrible in the rain. For a heavy shower, you're not making it to the side of the road.

i got caught in a heavy downpour coming back yesterday on my V730s, and even that was super sketch. was the slowest car on the highway, hazards on, the business.

Dont fixate on the "R" compound bs marketing. The R888r is a trash tire to be honest. Its slower than most current 200tw options and worse in the rain. I would look into some 200tw options, the ECF wears like iron and its driveable in the rain, just no the best. Its probably about as fast or faster than the nt01 or r888r. Also the r888r is probably the loudest car tire I have ever driven on, sounds like an airplane is tailgating you lol

I ran them on my other M car as a track only tire and ditched then after less than a day. They were slow, slick, and generally sketch in DRY conditions. Can’t imagine them in wet. I purchased them to try and save a couple bucks and wasn’t pleased with the offset of cost vs performance.

275/35/18 Federal 595RS-RR tire chunked at the left rear corner, '09 E92M with stock suspension out back. Too hot? Not enough pressure? Need more negative camber? I'm not necessarily trying to go faster, I just want my tires to last longer than 3 weekend events. My experience in the past with these tires has been generally good.

Federal tires don't like heavy cars. I bulged a brand new set of 595 RSR at one trackday. Never touched them since.

Well, I guess this is the excuse I was looking for to try something else.

In other news, running DSC/MDM OFF finally gave me the brake pad life I was looking for. I was going through a set of DTC70s in a few weekends with MDM on.

Couple 90 degree days at Pitt will do that. There were several other people there that did exactly the same thing.

This is what makes the tracking groups so great. People are willing to lend or give people in trouble whatever they need to help them out. A while back I was at VIR and there was a guy looking for pads for his e46 M3. For, some reason, I had an almost brand new sets of oem front and rear pads (AP Racing calipers installed) in a pad bag so I gave him the pads. He refused to accept them for free so I told him the price is $1.00 or a bottle of water (it was 100 F that day). He gave me a bottle of water.

You are going to enjoy the XP20 and I’d be surprised if you were able to go through a set of XP20s in one day.
