Exhaust VANOS Hub

Does anybody know how to re-tension the anti slack gears on an S65 exhaust hub?
I need to change 1 of the exhaust hubs due to not advancing far enough and throwing a P2762 code. I have not purchased the gear yet, but I noticed that when people list them, they do not lock them with a screw to hold them in place. So before I buy a used one, I wanted to know how much trouble they are to re-tension.
Thanks
The car in question is a 2013 M3 Coupe with 117,000 miles on it.

Use the tool included in the cam timing lock kit. From a relaxed gear you have to do it in 2 steps. First attach and wind the tool as much as you can. You will see a half moon in the bolt hole…put a pin to hold it. Detach the tool and reset it. The second stage of winding the tool will get the bolt hole centered. Screw a bolt in it and you’re set.
