Ok should I not have gotten xp10s all around? Haven’t installed them yet… I ran ds1.11s and didn’t love the pedal feel. Wanted to try something different. Track only, not super concerned about longevity, just performance.

just depends on the track if its hard on brakes or not.

FWIW, I used to be a PFC enjoyer and religiously used their pads, but my boss/phenomenal racer suggested trying Gloc pads which will happen soon. (placed 3rd in Carrera cup and won the 25hrs of Thunderhill).

We use them on all six of our spec miatas and everybody loves them. He is a dealer so he is biased but I was complaining to him about pad prices and availability for my Z54 kit, he brought up Glocs as an alternative. I have been on PFC 08s F/R and 11s F/R and loved them, so hopefully the glocs will be even better.

On a different note, another team I work with uses the PFC 331/332 combo for their spec E46s and they love them. So many options with brake pads, I wish grassroots did a comparison with PFC/Pagid/Gloc/Carbotech/Raybestos/Porterfield/Ferodo on a miata or something

Went to autobahn cc yesterday with the Chicago bmwcca group, which was a lot of fun. Less fun — someone in an e92 m3 threw a rod at T6 and showered the corner with oil. Black e92, gold bbs rims. Anyone we know? I didn’t see him on the track, just the car sitting later.

I haven’t seen anything in the rod bearing thread.

The local PCA chapter has a Road America event in mid-June I’ll be at. Looks like a 2010 M3 is registered but doesn’t appear to be a local. Check it out, details are on the Club Registration site.

Are they letting non-Porsches in that one? Last event they held up there was p-car only… but I’ll take a look!

They let me in and there are several other non-P cars.

Yeah same. Really want to know what happened to this one, but I’m budgeting on having to build a motor in the next year or two if I keep going with this.

I recently sold my stoptech ST60 and ST40 kit. I still have a few sets of PFC brake pads left if anyone is interested.

- one complete set of PFC 08 pads. About 80% left
- second complete of PFC 08 pads. About 40% left
- one complete set of PFC z-rated pads. About 75% left

I can send exact pad thickness measurement for those who are interested.

I will take the Z Compound for sure and maybe the 08s , I am picking up an E92 with an ST60 kit next week and loved the PFC pads on my STi.

Really digging this new rim design from Apex:

Seems like a more approachable and reliable e88.

They look amazing there is a surveymonkey link for it as well on facebook that I filled out asking for some 18x10 and 18x9.5 options for the E92.

Question

Getting back into track days with my father again after doing Gridlife time trials years ago.

Plan so far is try to get as much front camber as I can up front until I go to B16 coilovers.

18x9.5 Apex wheels with 265/275 Pilot Sport 4S
Motul 600 fluid
PFC Z pads / Stoptech ST60 kit up front.

With the E92 M3 being around 300 pounds heavier than my Subaru do you see substantially less life and chunking out of PS4S ?

why not just go 18x10 et25 squared? it works with oem suspension still.. just remove the alignment pin to get almost -2 camber might be around 1.6 to 1.8 though.

you'll probably kill the ps4s faster than the subaru would. but that just depends on your pace and tire pressure management.

That is also an option , 18x10 +25 fits well too

I would be going at a much slower pace than the subaru to start , PS4S like to be around 32-34psi hot from what I experienced but they do have weak sidewalls compared to the RS3s I ran in the past.

on our cars we aim for a higher cold pressure due to the weight. 32-34 hot from your experience would be cold for the M3 lol

Project Sky is getting the lightweight treatment in full effect.

Shout out to Owen okusa, Gabriel dogbone, and Josh lemanszcpm3. These fine gentlemen inspired me to get carbon doors for my car.

These doors are from MK-Rennsporttechnik and are very unique. The rear doors especially do not have a rear split glass section like the OEM and other carbon doors on the market.

Enjoy the pictures:

Makes sense with the added 300-400 pounds and a fat american like me behind the wheel.

Probably target 32-34 cold and 36-38 hot

I need to make the 3-4 hour drive to come visit in Toronto one day as I can see Windsor from my office in Detroit.

Absolutely insane collection and your Subaru is only 10 years newer than my old one.

Did MK Rennsport sell those mirrors too? Cool idea to get air into the cabin for you since you're running the sealed lexan all around. I'm about to do doors as well and am pivoting from a full fixed window to a design that enables use of stock glass or hard coated lexan to go through the regulator still, though I fear it'll turn to shit quickly and not sure it's all worth it since it's going full race car... Just not dying to be stuck inside and like driving window-less especially without AC.

I don’t think even have the option to run windows up in the States short of factory LMP type cars. So you need them down or easily removable either way. Maybe I’m wrong?

Strongly recommend https://carbon-microsystem.com/ for the type for doors your describing (able to move window up/down). Manual motion with a latch at top would be light and simple. https://ljrc1.com/item/1218959-upper-window-latch-kit

I ordered a trunk through Carbon Micro and they were great! Excellent communication and incredible craftsmanship and to keep shipping down they sent it directly to airport where I picked it up directly through customs broker.

All the Carbon work I ordered from Latvia (OCT Composites, Carbon Micro, and HGK). Seems like a lot of skilled composite labor in Latvia.
