Power Steering Reservoir Upgrade
Small write up on what I did over the weekend, I upgraded my PS reservoir to the newer style unit found in the F series cars and also the 1M. Good solution to those who have issues with fluid expanding and finding their reservoir covered with dirt and oil.
I'm also selling these with the fitting pre installed and with clamps, I'll post another thread. Old ugly one. [IMG][/IMG] New unit with fitting to make the unit PNP [IMG][img][/IMG] Sucking it dry [IMG][/IMG] New unit installed. [IMG][/IMG]

Can you tell me the size of the fitting so I can make mine plug and play too? I'm going to check the local hardware store for it. Thanks!

Make sure you use two adapters so the original hoses go to the appropriate large and small ports. The large port is for pump supply and the small port is the return. This will ensure the higher pressure return from the pump is not shot up at the reservoir lid which will prevent fluid leakage.

This is pretty cool. If you are looking for a less expensive/time intensive solution to the original problem of PS fluid spray leaks from the reservoir, you can get this from FCPeuro for $1.50
https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...et-32411128333 Lifetime replacement when it goes bad and it fits just about every car (e46s, e9xs, e70s....) through about 2013 or so, which comes in handy if you have multiples. One minute DIY consisting of: unscrew cap, roll off old gasket, roll new gasket tightly up to top of cap, screw cap back on. Leaks gone for at least a few years! 😊 |

I take it that the hoses are not long enough just to be switched, is that right? Anyone know the diameter of the hoses? If so, we can probably figure out this hardware thing ourselves.
