Autodimming mirrors on CAD M3's?
Before I purchased the car a knowledgeable friend said the M3’s did not come with autodimming side mirrors.
When I got my 2008 E90 I thought he was wrong because the light reflection at night seemed under control. But I removed the tint that was on the far and all of a sudden car lights are much more prominent leaving me to question my original conclusion. Not sure about rearview mirror also? Can anyone shed some light on this? (no pun intensed!) |

So my Canadian 2012 E92 M3 definitely has auto dimming side mirrors. It's very obvious when parked in a parking structure (where the front of the car is facing the inside and sunlight is shining agains the mirrors) or at night when the horrendous HIDs from lifted trucks are blasted from behind me.
Check your VIN and see if you have option 313 (or S313). On some websites it only shows as "Exterior mirrors, folding," but BMW's official description for it is actually "Electrically foldable exterior mirrors with automatic anti-dazzle function," which I'm going to assume is the auto dimming feature we're talking about. |

I’ll do that. I can report I am not crazy; my mirrors DID autodim the other night. It just seems to be more finicky/selective and less consistent on when it dims than my 128i is. Just like MT hill hold seems to be less consistent in its application on the M3.
