Could be a cracked tank, bad pump grommet, loose or cracked hose. I'd make the effort to find the issue even though it is a pain to get to this area, and then order what you need. For me it was just the pump.

Looks like no one has had this issue in a while. I woke up this morning to a puddle on the passenger side of the car. I was like, oh shit, coolant? Touched and took a sniff and was relieved it was just washer fluid. Looks like my pump seal has given up. Ill address on my next oil change.

Purchasing a new (to me) e90 M3 and this came back on the PPI.
The diagnosis is the nozzles do not spray fluid. They provided this part as the fix: https://www.fcpeuro.com/products/bmw...ir-61667006063 However, it's just a strainer & grommet. My suspicion is the pump has failed and needs to be replaced as well. The genuine BMW part looks to be updated in comparison to the alternative/Chinese models even though cost is x4. Am I getting this right: to access the reservoir, one bolt needs to be removed, passenger fender liner moved forward and that's it?

Just about, several videos on line. Some pull the tank all the way out. Seems they want to control where the fluid goes. I pulled it out to give access to the pump. I put a bucket underneath for the short amount of time I had pulled out the pump.

Yes, the first step is either removing the fender liner completely or just the back edge. Not many extra screws to pull it all the way out. Then there is on bolt holding the tank in place.

2011 E90.
Had a small puddle with a blue ring around the perimeter by the right front fender; watery consistency, hint of an odor, not oily at all. Wiper fluid was my guess, this thread confirmed that was the likely culprit. Another cracked motor to the pile, I've got a $10 amazon.com replacement inbound, we'll see how that fares. Puddle and some remnants; clearly been leaking for a few days before I noticed it, my garage door's on the driver's side. It was slowly dripping out of this small hole where the fender liner meets the running board. Remove wheel and various bolts to pull back fender liner. A Tidily packaged wiper fluid bottle; I was worried this would require removing the fender, but the whole shebang is held by that one 10mm bolt inboard of the tank. With the bolt gone, the tank slides out like a cartridge, revealing the motor. Top half of motor base is dry, but it's wet below what looks like an emergency freeze/weep hole. I couldn't discern any obvious cracks, but there's enough photos of failures on this thread that I just ordered a new one. Different view of same point. Might as well stop making a mess until the new part comes in. |

having the same issue
just bought a 2008 bmw m3 which is having a lot of issues off the bat. when I went to the dealership for a recall, they top my washer fluid and notice it was washer fluid all over my backyard once I got home and parked right away. will be doing this job soon once I order the part thanks for the part number.
edit. I just order the UFO 10 buck one off amazon dosent come with the gourmet that was additional 5 bucks. still under 20 and will be seeing how well this one holds up. OEM was around 60-80 for a new one. Last edited by Bmw34023; 10-23-2019 at 04:44 PM.. Reason: a update |
