M3 E90 Shift Boot

Hey all,

I just ordered a new shift knob and boot for my 2011 e90 M3 and for some reason the new one is ever so slightly bigger at the base that secures it to the center console trim. I tried to push it in there and subsequently damaged my center trim and broke a clip before I realised something was wrong. Upon holding the old one up against the new one you could see the boot housing on the new one is actually ever so slightly bigger. This is the part I was told was the replacement part for my vehicle. part number is 25122283705 "Switch, throttle valve sensor with cover."

Is anyone able to offer an explanation as to how/why this could occur?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

That's a left hand drive part # AFAIK, who told you what the part # should be?

Go to realoem plug in your vin# and navigate to the interior trim section and find the part # listing yourself that way you wont make this mistake again.

I used Real OEM to find the part in the first place, it must have defaulted to the car search rather than keep my vin number search. I supplied the wrong part number, because I had done it some many times before the parts manager didn't check it (don't blame him) so it was my mistake completely. Good thing is I was able to retrofit it using the old housing.

Thank you for getting back to me.
