Brake Pad service due
Do to the brake pad service warnings come on based on the typical pads sensors only, or does it also come on based on mileage? Mileage is 62,313.
The car had a brake fluid service message. I took it to a shop so they could do a complete brake system and ABS fluid flush. When wife picked it up, the brake fluid service message was clear but both front and rear brake pad service messages were active. Curious because I had the wheels off last week and did a visual on the pads. They weren't new but they still had ~50% left. |

Thanks for the replies. Did some Google-foo and found some explanations that might explain it with CBS (condition based service. It goes something like this…,
The sensors have two wire loops. The first loop wears thru around 50% and starts a mileage countdown that will turn the service light on even if it doesn’t get to the second wire. If the CBS is reset between wires, it loses its countdown reference and defaults to the service light and “car on lift” picture. I’ll try a reset tomorrow, but I’ve ordered new pads and sensors to have on-hand. |
