I have to say this is awesome to keep some sort of tire pressure check without sensors in the wheel. During my post track day drive home, I got a warning that my tire was low. Sure enough my valve stem inner core was failing! Luckily I had the pump and it was a slow leak and I made it home safely.

External TPMS Sensors.
I recently installed an Avin Android display, one of the options I ordered was the TPMS External Sensors. They are valve stem mounted with batteries that are replaceable. So now I can see my tire pressures. They sell internal and external for their system. Overall I am happy with the Avin, a few minor quirks with the "M" button stopping the audio, brings you to the I-Drive screen. Love having Waze on the screen.

I'm not sure. I've only used BimmerCode with cars that were compatible with ESys. I haven't used it with an e89 chassis yet.

derbo sincerely appreciate the write up, worked like a charm on my e92 m3!
Was going to mention this difference applies to E9x m3’s, M3DSC is the name of the module For my purposes I’m doing this for the track where my cold tire pressure is much lower than TPSM can cope with. Sometimes I start as low as 26 psi. Will be testing this out for track purposes in a few weeks and will report back.

It made sense to convert to FTM to save on buying tpms sensors without fully sacrificing some sort of tire pressure check. I should edit the post to be that for future use.

Anyone know whether this can be done in reverse? My Canadian spec car came with FTM but I really want specific tire pressure readings for a variety of reasons. If I get the sensors and module, would there be wiring there for it? Coding I can do, no problem.
EDIT: If you're going to throw TPMS module and sensors into the garbage, I'll offer $100 + shipping to Canada. Thanks. |

FYI the CIC won't show specific pressures like the new NBT in the F cars so I personally think it's probably not worth the trouble.

Hello,
I tried doing the same to my E90 LCI 335i (N55 engine) 2011, but with partial success. I did the following: 1. Removed physically the RDC module 2. VO setting $2VB - Removed 3. VO setting $265 - Added 4. I was able to FA Write - CAS ( I did not write LMA, LMA, because they are not in my list) 5. Programmed the ECU CIC: RPA_CIC aktiv CIC: RDC nicht_aktiv CIC: RDC_SAFETY nicht_aktiv KOMBI: RDC_ALIVE nicht_aktiv KOMBI: MMI_ENA_RPA_RDC aktiv KOMBI: RDC_VERBAUT nicht_aktiv KOMBI: DSC_MIT_RPA_CC aktiv KOMBI: RDC_DISP_SWITCH nicht_aktiv -- Unfortunately I do not have M3DSC or MK60_M3. I have DSC and when I try to read it I get: Error in CABD! Look at CARBI.ERR and ERROR.LOG! COAPI-2020: ECU does not answer: IFH-0009:No response from controlunit DSC_87 -- So basically I did everything without one(and final) step, because I cannot allocate it. My CIC module now shows FTM instead of TPMS, but it is saying Status: FTM system error!. The vehicle check is saying OK, and I do not get malfunction error. However I want to be have it working (the FTM). Does anyone have any suggestions/clues what I did wrong or what can I do to finish the process? Last edited by deadlyhate; 06-28-2020 at 10:04 AM.. I don't know the value in the non-M DSC but I would assume it would be related have the word RPA in it. If all else fails, you can just code your DSC with a blank .MAN file to reset to defaults with the new Vehicle order since you added $265. Edit: I found a variable that shows this in DSC_87 that looks like it should work. Depending on your version it would be in the format of <version>_RPA For example if your DSC_87 is version C08. C08_RPA: wert_01 (Direct RDC) wert_02 (indirect RDC) If you read yor DSC_87 settings and search the TRC file, you should be able to find this RPA value and change it to wert_02.

According to the full module scan (the initial one when you scan the CAS), I have both C08_RPA wert_02 and RPA aktiv Already set to the "correct" ones. I will "fight" it a bit more and will probably try with the blank MAN default reset. Thanks again for the response! |

Did you unplug the TPMS RDC module?
I don't remember, but I think I had the same error and had to initialize and drive around for a bit and then it fixed itself.

I actually had the same (not exactly sure) error trying to do mine and made a post here, but figured it out lol. The DSC programming never took because my IGN wasn't "ON". Make sure your ign is ON while you read or write that module, it should read and write without any COAPI error. May sound stupid but coding the DSC module last according to the instructions, there had elapsed enough time for the car to turn off power.
Hopefully you figure it out!

Were your individual tire pressures visible in iDrive before you removed this feature?
Anyone interested in donating their RDC module towards a good cause? Some jerk is drilling screws into my tires (5th time in 3 years) and only on the rears. I am now looking to retrofit TPMS as opposed to the RPA that Canadian cars defaulted to in 2011. Thanks. Not sure if wiring is there to be honest, but hopefully. |
