I have thought about going in with some local friends and getting one we can all keep at a central location between us to do tires at. For now there's some cheap places nearby though, and locally theres a couple of groups that will come to you for a little more money in a fully-equipped truck/van and do mobile tire install at your house too.

Here in the Tristate area a mount and balance will set you back a cool $200. Nuts

yap $50 a tire is what I have to pay.
The key issue is that if I have a Fri, Sat, Mon schedule, I can't change front tires on Sun.

So unless some days are wet, I ran out of front for the third day.

I will have to invest in 2 more front wheels, or a tire machine. Which has it own issues.

I carry 4-6 wheels in the car so I don't run into wheel issues. It's a nice advantage of our M3s being based on regular 3 series

I always laugh at the people who roll tire trailers to the track when the M3 is so practical
We really need a “how much stuff did you fit in your car today” thread

I've had 8 tires in/on the car with my roof rack. Not including my street tires. Lol

You beat me! I can put 6 in the rear. I guess a 7th fits in the passenger seat.
So nice to be able to take the slicks with us. No need for a trailer/tow vehicle. God I love the M3

Well this turned out to be a bummer. Lost all 5 studs at Buttonwillow today. Other damage wasn't too terrible.

Ugh.......no anger towards your product choices or you. I just hate that a lot of studs aren't really tested and just pedaled product.

Heck even most wheel bolts aren't tested. People are quick to switch to Titanium wheel bolts but I have seen so many videos were they sheer off on a drag strip launch.

On some tracks I have been sub-20mph in a corner then bang up to redline near like a drag launch. The last place I want my wheel bolts to sheer off. This is why I have stays away from Titanium un-proven wheel bolts, though I put Titanium where it is not a structural component or a wheel component.

Overall this is why I stay with the original wheel bolt OEM created on our M3. Sure I would love studs for the wheel swaps, but not worth it to me.

Again, not trying to put a cigarette burn on you, just trying to save the "next guy"

I'm running studs from FCP Euro, with the intention to replace them every year.

What is the proper maintenance and safety routine to run these? I'm an avid mechanic but I don't think I realized the failure risk was so high on these. They are installed correctly and torqued accurately but I haven't done anything since I installed them other than visual checks.

Since I just replaced wheels, I'm not running spacers so I don't need to run studs. Should I go back to wheel bolts? The studs look cool and are nice for wheel changes.

If you want a 1 time solution you do bigger press-in studs. The 12mm studs are just too small

Well, the 12mm threaded studs are a gamble. Press in are an excellent option. Search for Core 4.

I'm too scared of any 12mm studs so I'm just going to keep using the bolts until I pony up for the 14mm fancy shit. Haven't heard of any widespread bolt failures, but maybe that's because all the trackies switch to studs immediately and I'm just late to the party?

I've been running bolts and just replacing regularly with FCP Euro. I don't trust studs on a car not made for it. Only had one issue with bolts breaking, but my torque wrench was broken and I think I over-torqued the bolts.

No spacers, so no messiness as I buy wheels that are just made to fit and can use stock length bolts. Apex wheels for track and street (staggered SM-10, square EC-7, square ARC-8R)

I have apex studs and I'm a little worried with how they are aging. They have this white crap like oxidation coming off of them.
I'm about due for a change but I think I might change them early.
